Re: AC Advice please

Hi Starsplitter,
When chlorinated water is frozen the chlorine is eliminated so should be safe to use but if you are still worried to use it freeze it in sealable drink bottles then put these in your tanks - there will be no contact with your tanks water.
Hope this helps - Graeme.

Re: Tank for YOYO loaches?

Hi ClownLoachSharky, Sorry to say that these fish do not look like Rostrata to me at all. Yo-Yo's are very variable in their markings. This is one of the Rostrata's that I had a few years ago. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa140/loachelover/Fish/DSC_3375-1.jpg I am in Australia and have had Ros...

Re: Where to buy hillstream loach?

Hi Pinkburrow, Welcome to Loaches Online. You could try fishchick.com which is in Annerley, Brisbane - (07) 38489585. I was last in there 6 months ago and they had Beaufortia, Sewellia, Gastromyzin and Homeloptera. They send fish all over Australia if state laws allow it. You can e-mail them via the...

Re: New to Khulis

Hi Sarahrah89 and a big welcome to Loaches Online, By nature Khulis prefer to hide most of the time and in their natural habitat are found in large numbers under leaf litter in calmer areas. This would be to prevent being eaten by larger predators and lots of other Loaches also behave in this way an...

Re: The New Guy?

Hi Ryan, Although I have never experienced Ick first hand I have always been worried about it with my loaches so I have tried to get a good understanding of it to try and prevent it or deal with it should my fish get it. Ick is a parasite and most parasites target the gills of a fish because they pr...

Great photos Odyssey, wonderfull to see these fish in their natural habitat.

The water looks so clear and clean. I will have to get my mask & snorkel and Nikonos out and check out my local streams.

Thanks, Graeme.

Hi Lisa, Maybe you need someone else to say your 55G is overstocked and a disaster waiting to happen and Clowns should be kept in tanks larger than 100G and Goldfish do not like tropical temperatures - but would you listen -Hmmmmm-

I vary their diet as much as I can but the two main foods I use would be New Life Spectrum 3mm sinking pellets and HBH Shrimp Pellets. My Clowns are 5" - 7" so the larger pellet size suits them well. They also get zuchini, live black worms, krill,Hikari carnivore tabs and algae disks, bloodworms and br...

Hi Broken Glass and Welcome, The only Loach that you will find in Aus of that size would be the Clown Loach but they are hard to find over 15cm and they get expensive at that size.
The Weather Loach is only banned in Queensland - they can still be kept in NSW.
Cheers Graeme.

Hi Glenna and Diana, I have been watching this thread with interest as I have had the same problem before with almost zero KH and a PH dropping below 6 and was advised to add Aragonite chips directly into the filter basket. This solved the problem for me and PH and KH levels are all stable. Cheers G...
