Re: Clown Loach proof plants?

Also, try offering algae wafers regularly to see if he likes those. Mine does well with Java fern, java fern windelov, rotala, wisteria, moneywort, crypts, etc. Never Aponogeton; eats the base of the stems every time.

Re: Growth rate experience for Clown loaches

If you have a group of them, one will become the "dominant" fish, and will hog the largest portion of food, and hence grow noticeable faster than the others. I had two the same exact age, and the "big boss" was almost double the size of the smaller. Other than that... It depends. It could take a few...

Re: Need a Clown in North Central West Virginia?
Would you be willing to ship the loach to Greensboro, North Carolina? Thought I would ask!

Thanks,
Anthony
I'm not sure how to go about doing that without damaging the fish!

Need a Clown in North Central West Virginia?

If anyone is close enough to drive and meet me somewhere, I have a clown loach that is ~6 inches long who has been alone(no other loaches) for a couple of years now. Please, before anyone attacks me, I've had him for about 12 years now, and back when I bought him, the common wisdom being put forth w...

Re: Sad News

I am sad to announce that one of my three Loaches died since I last came to this forum. If anyone remembers, I am the guy that has 23 yr old Loaches. She had a growth on the side of her face for about 4yrs that got larger until it was bursting and she was barely breathing. I lost one of my 10...

Clowns and plants

I have a two clowns who seem to ignore both java fern and cryptocoryne wendtii. I have wisteria that they do not eat, but often uproot by rummaging through the substrate between plants. I've also kept rotala in the past with no problem, and water sprite. I cannot keep Aponogeton Crispus, however. Th...

decor

LoachOrgy,
They do like their caves, which is the only decor besides plants at the moment. Do you think some sort of arrangement of driftwood or stone along the back to give hiding places, that they can swim under, with the front half open would be a good arrangement?

more details, and video clips

LoachOrgy: I try to stay lightly stocked. There are one bristlenose pleco, about a dozen little cherry barbs, and three small rasboras. The tank is also planted, and I have a decent canister filter. Thank you for all of the responses! I've always really liked these fish, but I want to treat them wel...

size

Their sizes are, 4 inches long, and 5 inches long respectively. Typical of clowns, they grew gangbusters at first and have over the years since, grown slowly.

Should I part with my old clowns?

Hello everyone. I have two clown loaches that I've had now for about 8 years. They are currently housed in a 55 gallon aquarium. Clown Loach knowledge seems to have progressed a lot in the past 8 years. When I got these guys, it was not commonly known how large they do get. As they have grown larger...

New tank!

Well, it's not as big as it will eventually need to be, perhaps, but My loaches are getting an upgrade from a 38 gallon tank to a 55 gallon tank. I found a 55 gallon with hood&light for $50.00 used! Get the new tank tomorrow, and within a few days, hopefully the setup will be done. I might get a thi...

Emma,
They appear to have worked for brett_fishman, so I'm not sure what's wrong. :(
Here is the link to third photo directly, it is a full tank view, with a yard stick to give an idea of loach size.

Hope that works!

Photos of my loaches.

I'm trying to post some photos, but I cannot get the form to let me use HTML. No matter how many times I turn it on in my profile, it is always OFF when I post replies. As an alternative to putting the code to display them in this post, here is a link to the album online: http://picasaweb.google.com...

WOW

WOW!!!! That is a very impressive tank and school of clowns that you have, Emma! I am so envious! I will definitely keep length in mind as a very important factor now. I would hate to give them up after all of this time. I looked back at my oldest pictures of them, and I have had them at least 7 yea...
