New home
Hi, My Eleven Clown Loaches are moving to their new home this weekend. Tank and Sump combined water volume is 1300 litres. They were living in a 100 litre tank of their own until now but now I am thinking of some tank mates (not too many) for them. Could you advice some good tank mates for them plea...

Re: My clown loach scratching their mouth against sand
Greek, thanks for your reply and sorry for not replying sooner. As the symptom again back with the kids, I am back to see the replies. Are you saying that normally clown loaches may rub their mouth against the sand. This is exactly what they are doing here. Specially at the time of feeding I can not...

My clown loach scratching their mouth against sand
Hi just noticed one of my clown loach scratching their mouth against sand. Can't see anything in their face - white or red mark etc. Is this a parasite?
It's a new 4 ft tank just cycled, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20 ppm, PH 7.8 , Temperature 85 F. Just have only 6 clown loaches.

Re: Clown Loach Problem
Also clown loaches are best kept in groups - at least a group of 5. So if you are planning to bring more, bring 4 more if you can. Also they need a bigger tank, preferably at least 4 feet long as they are fast swimmers. As they are from tropical country prefer very worm acidic soft water. good luck ...

Re: Hi to all the members
thanks for the info Greek.
I feed my small ones three times today. The test results in the evening - Ammonia ZERO, Nitrite ZERO, PH 8.0 (Bogwood is working !). Looks like tank is cycled.

Re: Hi to all the members
Redshark, Wow your tank is very nice indeed. Thanks for the picture. I do think controlled algae helps maintain the aquarium environment. But too much of algae may spoil purpose of the show. otocinclus catfish is very effective in removing algae. Sometimes we may get duplicates in the pet shop which...

Re: Hi to all the members
Thanks Greek Thanks Redshark I will get a 6 ft X 2 ft X 2.5 ft tank soon. As the ph is high here at Shropshire and surrounding, what you all normally do to keep the Clowns please. Do you bring the ph down to around 7 or leave it as it is. If I can lower the ph what is the best way to do that. When I...

Hi to all the members
Hi New to the forum. Just started a tank today with six small Clown Loaches. I have not used any other fish to start the tank as I want to keep only the clowns. I put two bag's of alfagrog from my pond Trickle filter into the new tank. I'm hoping the cycling process go smooth. All six loaches are ve...
