Hi Mick. The first ones I got were about 7" TL, or perhaps a hair (fin?) longer.

Mike Ophir wrote:Yes, indeed. I wonder what could account for the price drop? More available? Easier access to their native habitat?

Mike
Probably both as easier access would make more available. Or they were not selling many at the old price and decided to lower it.

Will keep you updated on how they develop. Is this really the first shipment of them to the USA? Mike Hi Mike. Glad you liked the fish. This is not the first time I've had them. I got them about a year ago, and then they disappeared from the import lists. Now they are back, and at a much more reaso...

Yep, that looks like it.
By the way, I love those Vannies!

The light coloured, drably patterned fish is possibly Schistura incerta.
Providing this species has absolutly no patterning. These fish are positively devoid of any markings, so far.

Hainan Island loaches

I got a group of Hainan Island loaches today (came in as Vanmanenia hainanensis ) In this group were two contaiminents (see pics below). Any ideas? Supposedly they all came from the same place, if that's of any help. http://www.franksaquarium.com/lol/Hainan1.jpg http://www.franksaquarium.com/lol/Hai...

Frank, Did the other interesting things arrive too? (in particular those neomacheilus and Hara species)? Yes, I got two Hara species: H. hara and H. horai, plus the river catfish Akysis prashadi. The Hara are undergoing quarantine right now with enrofloxacin as the catfish from India seem to come d...

Well, they have settled into the sand quite nicely. I've added some blackworms to the tank (which will burrow into the sand). I am thinking that these fish should not be any more difficult to feed than the sand sifting gobies I used to keep in my marine tank (I may be incorrect about this, of course...

Need to see pics of the live ones Frank. O.K., once they settle in I'll get a pic. They're probably one of the most specialized and difficult loach species to keep alive and thriving. I would advise giving them a tank to themselves in the shop, with sand. They are on a sand bottom. Why are they dif...
