Re: Experience with dojos/weather loaches in outside pond

LiveAquaria has the regular variety. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/2099 ... 0+885+2099

I would be concerned about birds getting them in a pond.

Re: male loaches mating

Dawn,
When dojo/weather loaches mate, they usually parallel swim and then the male will wrap around the female. Mine have done that on several occasions but I never got any babies because the other fish in the tank (Rainbows and Angelfish) would eat most, if not all, of the eggs being released.

Re: HOMEMADE GEL FOOD

Oh yes, I have no desire to try beefheart. I'm going to stick with seafood. I made it Tuesday and let it chill overnight. I gave them some yesterday and they went nuts!! They love the Repashy I've been using but they like this even more. Based on their feeding response, I think they liked this almos...

HOMEMADE GEL FOOD

Hi there, I know there are a lot of homemade food recipes available. I found one on a FB post and have modified it slightly to my preferences. Just wanted to verify that it looks okay. The items with a asterisk in front are what I'm planning on using. I would like to possibly add some frozen foods f...

LIVE BRINE SHRIMP

Has anyone used these for their loaches? My main concern is the salty water needed for them to live in. I'm assuming the shrimp would need to be removed from the hatchery and rinsed before feeding to the loaches. Is this correct? Any recommendations for an easy setup?

Looking for Yunnanilus cruciatus

Does anyone know where I can find these in the US? Looking for someone who can ship also. I would also like to find some more Yunnanilus brevis. I originally got both species at WetSpot in OR but haven't seen them in years. I would like to add more to what I have. I have 2 cruciatus and 1 brevis :( ...

Re: Filtration

Just want to throw this into the mix. If you choose houseplants and have cats, make sure the plants are not toxic. A lot of the lily type plants are toxic.

Re: Kuhli loaches and sterbai in planted tank?

Would you be able to put a piece of plastic mesh in or over the overflow box? I'm thinking of the stuff used in crafts. Some of it is made with really small holes and it can be cut to size.

Re: Filtration

I have tried canisters, hob's, and sponge filters. I don't like the issues involved with the canisters so I have switched all 10 of my tanks to sponges and hob's. The sponges are the main biological media and the hob's are for stuff like Matrix, Purigen, Chemipure, floss, etc. The sponges are really...

Re: 23 Year Old Clown Loaches

Wow, that is impressive Redshark!! That is one big, beautiful Loach. I don't have Clowns but I do have some Blue's (Y. modesta). They have grown nicely in the 2 years I've had them but the largest is only approx. 4". Maybe slightly larger.

Found Some Large S. berdmorei

I just received 4 S. berdmorei from WetSpot this morning. They are approx. 4-4 1/2". The ones I ordered a few months ago were about 2 1/2". Just wanted to let everyone know in case anyone is interested in some that are a nice size. Mine have been acclimated to the tank and have colored up nicely and...

Re: Jumping loach!

When I first got my Blue's a couple of years back, I lost one to jumping. It jumped the very first night :( Somehow it managed to lift the plastic piece that is attached to the glass lid. I found it dried up behind the tank the next day.
