Re: Do hillstream loaches sift through sand?

I have never seen hillstream loach jump, but they can climb on glass.
You must have tank covered.

Re: ID Sewellia

I think I have Sewellia SEW04.
This fish is smaller them mine Sewellia breviventralis and I have never seen this fish eating anything but algae. S. breviventralis eat dried and frozen food.

Re: Sewellia for sale but not lineolata?

They could it be Sewellia breviventralis. Sewellia breviventralis is very similar to SEW03 (I can not see difference). Re: Snails in hillstream loach tank?

I had snails in mine hillstream loach tank too. I moved mine fish to another tank and tried to kill them with Gastropex. It didn't help. Only solution for me was fish: black paradaise fish for biger snails and dwarf botia for small snails. After snails were gone, I moved this fish away. Black parada...

Re: Petruichthys sp rosy, the Rosy Loach

I never had this loach... Have you read this: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/yu ... s-sp-rosy/ ? I think SF is best site, when you need info on some less common species.

Re: Quarantine for hillstream loaches

Sewellia doesn't need algae. Mine Sewellia eat any food, that is small enough to fit their mouth and drop on bottom of tank. They are bold enough, to fight for this food with other fish. I use: Tetramin, Sera discus, Frozen Brine shrimp, ... Gastromyzon is more complicated. I have never seen them on...

Re: Suggestions. A small fish in a small tank

It is Beaufortia, but I cant tell which specie. If Seriouslyfish is right, it might be kweichowensis: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/beaufortia-kweichowensis/ Dots on light and dark fish looks similar. I think, that light fish are just more stressed. Mine pleco do the same. When they feel good...

Re: Suggestions. A small fish in a small tank

Hopefully you get some hillstream loach suitable for your tank.
I am waiting more than month for mine new hillstream loaches. The importer is very unreliable, but no one else can offer the fish I want (Gastromyzon punctulatus).

Re: Suggestions for 20g long high-flow w/o powerheads

I would use canister filter with flow more than 1200 l/h and put the intake and output on opposite ends of the tank. Extremely high flow isn't necessary. These fish spend most most of the time in places with low flow.

Re: Suggestions. A small fish in a small tank

It is strange, that your options on buying fish are so much limmited. Where are you from? Here in small country in Central Europe, I have plenty of options. Sellers send fish by train, so I need to travel only few kilometers. For example actual stock list of German fish wholesale, I can buy from via...

Re: Suggestions. A small fish in a small tank

Hillstream loaches are not jumpers, but they can climb on glass even above water level.
Nice example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPAIUHfQDhs

Never buy fish, if you don't know species. Just make photos to identify later at home. You can buy them next day...

Re: Suggestions. A small fish in a small tank

This tank would be ideal for hillstream loaches. They like big water flow and algae. But just pair wouldn't be good. 6 fish or more is ideal. For example: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/sewellia-lineolata http://www.loaches.com/species-index/gastromyzon-ctenocephalus http://www.loaches.com/spe...
