Re: dojo/weather loach question

From my own experience, when I was less experienced I kept a dojo with a gravel substrate and when I look back his barbels were definitely shorter than the ones I have now with sand. My theory is that he wore them away on the gravel, so I can't say that I recommend having gravel. (Also, they just lo...

Good idea! I have one of those but it never occurred to me to do that with it.

Re: Did My Fish Get Me Sick

Oh my god, I can't believe anyone would throw away a live fish!! >:o I think it's unlikely that you caught the illness from the fish. It's a possibility if you accidentally got some of the water in your food or something due to bacteria that is naturally in the water, but humans can't catch fish dis...

Re: How to clean sand substrate ?

As I am also having problems with this, how would you clean the sand if you can't get a stronger filter? If I use a vacuum it will just vacuum up the sand, lol.

Re: Feeding Dojos Veg

Mine are only around 4 inches and I can't imagine that they would be able to fit a whole pea in their mouths, lol. Half a one might be ok though.

Feeding Dojos Veg

When you feed dojo loaches veg, do you dice it very small or just leave it in a big chunk? I know that I should give them some to vary their diet more but I'm a little scared that they will swallow a too-large bit and choke.

Re: Foam bubbles on top of aquarium

When I first set up my tank I got some bubbles forming at the sides but they cleared up by themselves after a week or so, apparently without causing any harm.

Re: Lump by dojo loach's pelvic fin

If anyone ever has the same problem, I'm just posting here for them: I didn't do anything radical and it seems to have gone down a bit. I have changed up his diet from just catfish pellets to a mixture of catfish pellets, algae pellets and frozen bloodworm so maybe that has had an effect. Anyway, he...

Lump by dojo loach's pelvic fin

https://i.imgur.com/6aoqnfT.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/N7M6qCd.jpg?1 I noticed this lump three days ago and after some research I thought it must be constipation as the descriptions are very similar. As a result I have fed him shelled peas for the last three days but I'm kind of panicking because ad...

Re: Brown patch on golden dojo's head

I haven't noticed any changes, but honestly I can't remember for sure if he always had it. ^-^' I've had him for many years now and i'm pretty sure he didn't have it when I got him but he has had this same patch for at least a while.

Re: Are golden dojo loaches different to other dojo varietie

AFAIK the 'Golden' ones are tank bred varieties of Misgurnus anguillicaudatus. This is the same as the fish sold as Dojo or Weather Loach, so buying more of either color (wild/mottled color or golden) should work. For maximum size they should be raised in large tanks with frequent water changes. Th...

Are golden dojo loaches different to other dojo varieties?

I have a golden dojo/weather loach and I intend to buy him a companion asap. However, despite many sources telling me that dojo/weather loaches grow to large sizes he has never grown larger than around 10cm, and the large ones in pictures always seem to be brown. Are brown and golden ones actually d...

But if it has been there for several months I do not think that is it. A burn would heal faster than that.
He's in an unheated freshwater tank so this is not possible. ^-^'
