Re: Polka dot loaches
Thanks NancyD, possible internal parasites is a great suggestion. I have used metronidazole/praziquantel (API General Cure) to treat internal parasites in tank mates according to package directions, and saw positive response in those other fish. (So these loaches experienced that treatment.) But I s...

Re: Botia identification help
Yes, these were all called kubotai and were about $13 each. Especially being a novice myself, the juveniles looked similar enough that I had no idea.

Re: Pleas help me to id this loach bought as a striped loach
I am new user too, and also wanted to upload photos for loach identification help. I used http://imgbb.com/ to host the images, which is a site I found just by web search. (I am sure you could use others.) I did not create an account there, but simply uploaded the images and then used the links they...

Re: Internal parasites

The treatment worked with great effect, and the loaches showed no ill effects whatsoever. I have actually done this a couple of times with them over the years. There are ...

Re: Botia identification help
Hi I'm thinking your bottom one is Botia almorhae. also known as Yoyo Loach, Almorha Loach, Pakistani Loach, Reticulated loach. I had several of these for many years in one of my tanks. Thanks for your reply. I revisited the Botia almorhae page here, and I could believe you are right. My reasons fo...

Botia identification help
I have 4 botia loaches all purchased from the same store. The first 3 were Jan/Feb '14, and then the 4th added May 2015. I have posted photos of each as juveniles (i.e., when purchased) and current, so about 3.5 years between photos for the first three and closer to 2 years between photos for the fi...

Re: Polka dot loaches
I don't have an answer for you, but I have observed practically a similar variation within a single shoal. I purchased 3 Botia kubotai within a month of each other (Jan/Feb 2014), from the same store. One has grown to about 3 inches while the other two are equal in size to each other at around 2 inc...
