Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

Some photos of the new loaches, not the best photos taken in the day light with a flash, the new loaches hang out in the open all day, as opposed to the original loaches hide during the day and come out at night... I can see one is missing a chunk near its head, poor guy, the young guy trying to cat...

Added 4 more loaches, where just labeled "Borneo Suckers" not to sure what they are, Pseudo gastro's I am pretty sure, will try some macro shots during the week. Here is a FTS, the new loaches seem to have interested the existing loaches, much more activity today. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1885...

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

Shot a nice long (10 minutes) video tonight, the loaches where out and about. Some of the focus isnt great as it was towards the end of my light cycle and had to use a low f-stop to expose the video

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

Starting to get some nice green algae growth, here are some updated FTS, the loaches where sleeping / hiding, seem to only come out at the end of the light cycle / late at night, I have changed my light to stay on at 1% for two hours at the end of the cycle, gives me a good chance to watch the loach...

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

What is the green coloured loach in the first pic, also do you have to heat up the soilemt green gel? I am not sure of the ID of the loaches sorry, I think the first loach is a pseudogastromyzon myersi but that is just a guess. The gel food is a powder, you mix with boiling water (about 1 part food...

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

Tank is going well, slowly growing more green algae on the rocks, changed up my lighting schedule to be much longer and more inline with sunlight hours, seems the loaches are enjoying the change, could be due to more algae / diatom growth. The loaches are much more active at the end of the lighting ...

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

Hi, How many gallons does that tank hold? also what are you feeding them? Val Hi, the tank is 20g but less because of rocks and sand, also I am only filling to within about 1 inch of the rim, tho the two big canister filters each hold about 20ltrs. I am feeding different kinds of algae wafers, hika...

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

I. too, love your big rocks! I'm not good with hilly ID, but they look healthy & happy. I'd worry just a bit about your loaches climbing up & out of the tank. I've only had a rimless tank once...but not with hillys...& I did lose a couple very small loaches to climbing or jumping in a 16 inch tall ...

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

That is one brilliant tank!!! LOVE the big stones, is there a glass lid? won't the loaches get out? Val Thanks :) The loaches seem to love the stones also! No lid, I did have one loach end up on the floor the first day I added them to the tank, it survived as I was able to get it back into the tank...

Re: River Flow - 5ft Bookshelf Aquarium

Starting to get some nice algae... never thought I would call algae nice, tho would be great if I could grow green / brown soft algae without BBA... starting to see tiny tuffs of BBA on the rocks closest to the window in my study. Loaches seem to be enjoying the algae tho. Some photos below, most of...
