Re: Gluing Plants on to driftwood

Grasses, depending on what type, may be a lot more difficult to grow than Java ferns & anubias. Most grasses are planted in the substrate, not glued anywhere.

Re: Khuli loach query

Any fish may jump. It may help if you have floating plants so they can have an idea of the tank's upper limits. I kept pangios in a 10g & then a 20g long, both shallow tanks. But I also had many plants that some liked to hang out in near the surface. I had no jumpers. It's not a matter of loach size...

Re: Botia dario compatibility

Oh, I think your tank is way too small to add any loaches. I'll have to look up some of your fish but still...the tank is too small. Sorry, I know that's not what you hoped to hear.

Hey andyroo, it's nice to see you again & welcome back to loach keeping. Any chance of pics of your new little darlings? I wonder just how long your inverts survive hungry little loaches, lol. Nothing like live foods to grow them up fast!

Congrats on the PhD!! That's wonderful! What field?

Re: loach talk!

Thanks Fran. I've been offline for a few weeks (vacation!) but I think I've got it now :D or at least I did today, lol, for a while.

See you here & there I hope. Thanks for the hints, they helped.

Re: Loach size

Well, it could be a couple things. 1 loach may be a food hog & get most of the food. Or the smaller loach may carry internal parasites that prevent it from utilizing the food well. It could also be a sex difference, females tend to grow fatter & larger than males, because of that, males tend to grow...

Good for you, Fran! I haven't seen a lot more site traffic than here...but I'm extremely facebook lame, lol. If I don't get an email alert, I don't look. Nor am I very good at navigating FB sites. If you have hints please tell me.

more seweliia fry!

I didn't find my old posts on my F-1 or F-2 sewellia lineolata breeding, but they've been at it again! Since early 2019, I've seen 4, then 7 fry. Now, after a 2 week holiday, I'm up to 8 on the front glass! 2 are smaller, 6 almost the same size. They are quite slow growing IME but I'm very pleased! ...

Re: loach talk!

Yes, redshark, I think it's the same (or almost) as loachfanatics. L.assn. may be the older name & was more Brit-centric but I know you're in the UK. I think they may be merged or something, they seemed the same when I looked. I'm not very facebook aware...sorry. Mark & I talked about it but I don't...

Re: how to feed yoyo loaches cucumber

I've poked a hole into the veg (any) & wedged in a bit of wafer or pellet food in the hole. As the loaches eat the pellet/wafer they get a bit of the veggie & learn to eat the veg too. Try it!

Re: loach talk!

Basil, yes, I do remember because, like you, my deepest sid tank was a 20 inch deep 75g. I don't think Mark was saying breeding can't be done in another tank size, but he did say they seemed to enjoy a 24-36 inch deep tank. As I recall he said sids liked going all over his deeper tank(s). I've kept ...

What do you need clarification on? Rock placement?

I wish you good luck on your petruichthys brevis, it sounds like you're getting close!

Males have longer more pointed pectoral fins. Both sexes can get "fat", lol, but females more so.
