Re: And I thought warmer water was supposed to kill whitespot?
Thank you for your input, Bas Pels. I went to the pet store and was told that while whitespot CAN survive at 31 degrees, its life cycle is shortened dramatically. Combined with a 4.1 star medication that is safe for scale less fish and I am confident in the survival of the clown loaches. ( It is ind...

Re: Yoyo Loaches acting weirdly
From my experience, there are 2 possible explanations. The 1st is that they are just acting that way as part of their normal behavior. My clown loaches do that sometimes. The 2nd is that your local pet store is selling unhealthy fish. Mine unfortunately does so, and I have had many types of fish die...

And I thought warmer water was supposed to kill whitespot?
I have 6 clown loaches, 3 with whitespot. Here is where it gets tricky: The water temperature in the tank was 31 degrees Celsius. I thought whitespot was killed by temperaturea like that. Apparently not. Any other treatments? I do not want to use harsh medications.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Mysterious Myers deaths
How big were they when you bought them? I had the exact same problem with black kuhli loaches, but my clown loaches were doing well, and black kuhlis are a lot hardier than clowns, so it was perplexing. That is, until I realized that the dead black kuhlis all had 1 thing in common: They were all abou...

Re: A new food
Yeah, probably not the best idea to feed red meat. I do recommend feeding seafood though (such as perch, red snapper, pickerel, or Chilean sea bass)

Re: 2 Clowns, New Home, Greying Out
Hi Choc. I think it’s either clowns need more of their kind— or nothing. Weather loaches are cool but I keep a warm fish tank and I believe they are cool water loaches. Are they not able to adapt to warmer water? Mine, like I said, lives with clown and kuhli loaches, and is able to tolerate the 31 ...

Re: Feeding Dojos Veg
I do not feed my weather loach (or any of my loaches) vegetables, as they are already carnivores and vegetables dirty the tank. I feed him carnivore pellets and seafood, which he does very well on.

Re: Well rounded loach diets.
I know this is a bit late, but I should give my 2 cents. I have 6 clown loaches, and I also feed them seafood. However, I NEVER remove uneaten food (they always finish it) and I don't feed mine veggies/algae wafers, only seafood, worms, snails, and carnivore pellets. They have been doing very well a...

Re: My loach has stopped eating and has become emaciated and near death.. help ?!
First of all, it is probably a coincidence that he got sicker when you added the snails. I suspect that the stress of only having 1 other loach in the tank with him eventually did him in. I don't know if this will work, but get at least 4 to 5 more. Ideally, you want a minimum of 6 loaches. Hope thi...

Re: dojo/weather loach question
Does Florida have clown loaches? If you caught one you could cook it like a small carp or mackerel, as clown loaches are pink-fleshed oily fish like the aforementioned 2 others

Best food for a pictus catfish?
I have received a pictus catfish from an exchange, and he hasn't eaten anything for 4 days. I know they're all wild caught, so he may not recognize his carnivore pellets as food. As for other options, I went and surveyed the best fish market in town, and the best-quality seafoods are as follows. I h...

FranM, if you're interested, I can recommend a weather loach as a clown tankmate. Mine got along great with my 6 clown loaches, and with your tank size it may even work with the yoyos too

Re: dojo/weather loach question
Just thought you might want to know this, but I do not recommend adding yoyo/zebra loaches in with your 2 weathers. I had 4 yoyo and 7 zebras in with mine and he was being almost continuously harassed (mainly by the yoyo loaches). I can, however, recommend clown and kuhli loaches as tank mates for w...

Re: dojo/weather loach question
I know this is a bit late, but I should give my 2 cents. I have 1 weather loach in my tropical tank (water temp is 30 C) and he is frisky, eating well, and seems to be happy. You should be fine.

Re: 2 Clowns, New Home, Greying Out
Perhaps. I kept my loaches with 0 flow and they did well, so maybe remove a Fluval?
Also, the loaches may be able to defend themselves. My cousin had an 800 lite tank, and in it he kept 1 bluegill, 6 clown loaches, 6 yoyo loaches, and assorted Malawi cichlids.
