Thank you google maps . I used to drive around this monstrosity regularly.

It's a shame html is disabled in this forum, no way to embed the map from BBCode.

A wonderful day

Yet another wonderful day meeting up with everyone (-: Susan and I both enjoyed ourselves immensely. All to be expected given a trip to Emma's shop but the company made it even better. It was a little odd to wander into the shop and meet Helen away from the loach section, but it was easy to see why ...

Those times should be fine, although i'm sure to get some grumbling about the early start. (-:

If there is anyone from the Guildford area or indeed on route (around the west/north side of the M25 then up the A1) who would like a lift just drop me a PM.

This is still an all too familiar problem with many large chain shops. So much so that the wonderful minds on this forum created a poster that could be handed out to stores highlighting the needs of these fish. http://www.loaches.com/articles/Hillstream%20Flyer.pdf I was miss-sold my first Cheni fro...

Martin Thoene has written an excellent article on his experiments on creating a suitable environment for keeping hillstream loaches. The basic idea is to reduce the turbulence that most powerheads generate and try to get as much of the water in the tank flowing in the same direction much as would oc...

That is a lovely looking tank. Careful of the valis though, after initial disaster with all my plants in the tank i was basically left with just the anubias, some java fern and a whole lot of algae. Then thought i'd give the valis another go this is the result of just one valis plant in the right pl...

I am in awe! Although i will never be able to get this to work myself as my sliders only go up to 10 )-: and in all honesty i doubt the newly discovered salt water hill stream loaches so suited to this pumping method would be compatible with my P.Cheni. Still given enough time i'm sure brackish cond...

Excellent stuff LES, but I think I'd find that DOF frustrating. I agree, it makes life very difficult especially once you also factor in the distortion you get from using high zoom lenses through the glass of a tank, any angle that is not perpendicular to the glass causes all sorts of distortion. T...

Hi all, thanks for the kind comments. For those who have asked the lens in question is the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED (fully supported by your D40 Janne). It is an expensive bit of kit, especially when you can get a similar performing lens from Sigma (Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro) only...

I went a little crazy last weekend and splashed out on a new lens for my camera. Naturally i wanted to get a few pictures of my favourite test subjects to get a feel for it and thought i'd share the results with you guys. The first three pictures are of the same loach who featured in my 'little brow...
