Re: Help on clown loach setup

loaches like the bottom of the tank. if the areas your adding are on the bottom of the tank for the shark. there might be a conflict. this is just my experience but i had 8 corydoras that grew up with my clowns since the clowns and the corys were babies. eventually the cory's got so fat they were li...

Re: Stray Voltage: Grounding Rod or GFCI Experience?

Its been 7 months since my last post. I tried everything listed in this thread. I have completely removed the heater element and the fish still had issues over 6 months after. Nothing worked. Come to find out it must have been the other fish picking at the runt. All of the sudden recently in the las...

Re: Stray Voltage: Grounding Rod or GFCI Experience?

Ok so after a few more months the striata in question looks back to normal. I am pretty sure it wasn't stray voltage now. The striata was still having the issues after everything was removed from the tank. Everything is back in now and there are no issues. Must have been some bullying or something g...

Bacterial Bloom Temp Fix

Short story: several years ago I lost half my clown loach tank from a bit of a bacterial bloom. After a few days the fish started bloating and getting coated in a white film and even looking a little iridescent. From the diagnosis here it was determined that it may have been oodinium disease. howeve...

Re: Stray Voltage: Grounding Rod or GFCI Experience?

My tank voltage is 11.4 with only 2 rena x3 fillstars attached. I will take another reading once I put the jethead back in. Right now I have aquaclears with the filter attachment. I used to run the river tank setup but as the loaches are getting bigger I find the pvc piping a little intrusive to the...

Re: CLown Loaches or just killers....

wow, i had a similar issue with my corydora catfish. I had 8 total that lived with my clowns the entire life span I have had them. When the corydoras became cow size(very large). One day all my clowns just decided that they were on the menu and tore through about 6 of them. I saved 2 but they ended ...

Re: Aggressive Rostrata?

all my rostrata are very aggressive compared to striatas and clowns. He needs some buddies. But all my rostratas do is fight the entire time. IN a good way. Although I think I may have lost one last year due to a mortal fighting wound from an eye barb is my likely guess. Pets mart has actually been ...

Re: My Fishroom 2012

haha. Thats awesome Keith. Keep the pictures coming. I believe I am going to have to upgrade my pyramid soon to have a larger size pvc pipe like your showing at the bottom ends of one of your pipe pyramids. My alpha is starting to grow out of it. I see here sleeping on her side against the glass of ...

Re: Stray Voltage: Grounding Rod or GFCI Experience?

I really appreciate all your help. Even with all of this equipment removed from the tank, the striata is still clamping fins. Poor little guy. I will put the jetheads back in the tank but I believe I will place them at the top of the tank with only the portion of the intake submerged. I will go ahea...

Re: Stray Voltage: Grounding Rod or GFCI Experience?

I was able to pickup a multi meter today. I set the setting to 200V on ACV. I hope this is correct. I placed 3 tablespoons of iodized salt into the bucket then plugged each piece of electrical equipment into the bucket and did the test one at a time. One lead was placed against the screw on the wall...

Re: Stray Voltage: Grounding Rod or GFCI Experience?

Yeah I have no experience with it. I was talking an aquarium guy that cleans the office tank. He said that might be it but he wasn't sure. I was explaining to him what I did. That is why I started the thread. I haven't had the time to get the meter yet. The initial symptoms were scraping and clamped...

Re: Stray Voltage: Grounding Rod or GFCI Experience?

Well I observed the striata all day Sunday and he seemed fine with no clamped fins. I come home today, the striata is clamping again. I can't figure this thing out. I am not entirely sure this is stray voltage now. I've tried numerous treatments for parasites, bacteria ect. and nothing seems to work...

Re: Help me Design My Mayan Temple Loach Tank Concept

Yeah I think I will go higher and try to redesign and center the idea. Also I was thinking of letting the ramps have a space under them so the loaches could lounge underneath. Been messing around again. The plan view hasn't been updated trying to figure out how to incorporate the 2nd level with a 5"...

Re: Help me Design My Mayan Temple Loach Tank Concept

If you have trouble viewing the images hold control down and use the mouse center scroll button and it resizes the website manually to make it bigger or smaller. My one concern on the top temple attachment is the placement of the back columns in the path of the ramp. That may cause some wrecks so I ...
