Ghosting is color changing. Getting way lighter.

They naturally are at different ends of the water pH spectrum. I have both in different tanks. Mpimbwe in one 100 gallon and clown loaches in another. I too thought of housing them together and decided against it. 7.0 pH for the clowns and 8.6 for the Mpimbwe.

No. Same species counts. I have fifteen clowns. They are social and it will show in their demeanor. At least five.

Much better than trying to change the water parameters every water change. Keep in mind that your water will change color. No big deal.

Many people just acclimate their fish to the pH of their water source. I've seen clowns live in pH 8.0 for many years. Adding bog wood lowers it.

Feed the loaches sinking food. Mine are 15+ cms and I feed them 4-5 times a week.

Mine go crazy at feeding time and I am real careful to NEVER leave to top open. These guys are rambunctious! Most fish will jump out of the smallest crack if given a chance.
