Oh yes!! :D :D When food enters the tank, he`s the first one to grab it. He`s been like this all the time since I got him about a year ago. Constantly hungry and always on the move. He`s also the one which is most fond of snails. When I give MTS he goes bananas :) The fact that he`s always so desper...

Update

I have been using Praziquantel for 11 days now. I have followed the dosage recommendations made by some very experienced Discus people who use this medication a lot. This is a quite higher dosage than what is stated by the manufacturer. It may seem that this is working. Of the 2 clowns that clearly ...

That`s for sure :D I personally think that the big amount of filtration is the main reason for the survival of this sid. Regardless of the other water parameters which most definetly have been very variable in this tank the last months :D

My sids are the most aggressive in one of my Loach tanks. They can be feisty little things. But because of they`re size the others seem to consider them more annoying, than a real threat.

Survival of the fittest!!

Hi! In the autumn of 2008 i purchased 3 large sids. These were placed in a (to small) tank of 152l with my other sids (and dither fish). The tank was emptyed short time after, as they all were given a new home in a 300l. I only located 1 of the big ones and presumed that the 2 others had died. I the...

Hi Diana! Thanks for the input. The only thing I`m sure about is that no discus will ever come into my tanks  I don`t like them, and I don`t think they`ll appreciate the quite strong current. But I`ll check out all the others :D I ment sids when I wrote dwarfs. Re the amount of Clowns I see yo...

New loach tank!

Hi! I have finally gotten hold of a 720l tank for my clowns :D The plan is to expand the group to approx 20-30 clowns. This will primarily be a clown tank but I would like to have some catfish aswell. Initially I thought about ancistrus sp but I have also thought about Borneo suckers. Half the tank ...

Chefkeith: you say you treated the emaciated clown for 2 years. Could you be a bit more specific as to how and with what you did this? I have a situation going on with one quite large clown that acts fine, but doesn`t gain weight despite meds and hard feeding. Sorry for OT... hope it`s ok that I pos...

Thanks for the reply Keith :) There seems to be some different opinions re the effect of Flubenol and Levamisole. As far as I how found out, Flubenol does not cure f.ex. Cammalanus... but Levamisole is reported to do this... this is one of the reasons I tried both meds. However, no fish shows any si...

Follow up - still some problems!

I`ll continue on this thread.... I still haven`t been able to totally get rid of whatever is causing problems in the main tank. Since last post the following has happened: 3 Striatas died overnight.. I have no reason why, but it wasn`t skinny... They had some white/grey patches on them... I first su...

But I think we have reached a point in our existence were it's not "natural" any more the way we manipulate our environment and surroundings. I totally agree with you on this. But regarding the threads original intention re using Loaches for food, I don`t think we have gone to far. Fish is normally...

Nature will find a balance on it's own, without our intervention. No, it wont`t. Because humans are a part of nature , not an imposed addition or an intruder. We have developed like every other species on earth. For you`re theory to work we will have to eradicate modern sivilisation and go back to ...

As i said before; mankind has always harvested from the nature for food. (So do all other creatures on earth, including our fish). This is natural and how we survive and I see nothing wrong with it. It is mostly in recent decades with tv and other media availiable that we have started to get emotion...
