Thank you very much Martin. I know it was pushy of me to ask since I'm new here. Sids are my newest, hence favorite, loach & your interpretations are so cute I wanted them & me to be included.(Sorry to take so long to answer, computer unhappy & microwave died :( ) I still think instead of dancing ba...

For what it's worth,I've read that some people use the bag dumping "technique" for fish that have been shipped long distances &/or spent a long time in the bag. The idea is to get them out of the waste polluted & oxygen depleted water ASAP. This is not the same as taking fish home from the store. Na...

These are so cool! May I please be on the list for a sid when you do botia types? I also had visions of loachy emoticons if you need another project someday. Maybe a kuhli quetion mark or a head-on sid with flashing spines.

Thanks for the reassurances, I think it was on petfrd I read sids often were aggressive with corys & maybe others, i.e. split fins. Made me think of others in their new genus with skunks, modestas etc. Mine a still quite small ,1" TL, but have started to establish a hierarchy. One owns the "good" ca...

Congrats! I love my sids. Very different personalities in the 6 I have now than the 2 I had many years ago. Diminutive darlings or tiny terrors? ( a stab? a pack? I believe Mark & Jim said) Maybe I'm starting to see some of that behavior but mine don't have any other fish to harass. The old ones nev...

You know 2 weeks isn't really very long for them to get used to their new home especially with all the stuff you've had going on. Lotus has good suggestions. Another idea is to provide some shaded areas with tall or floating plants, even plastic is o.k. My clowns like romaine and zuccini (slightly m...

Thanks for the higher temp info Martin. Nice to know I could keep them happy when the time comes 8) . Much easier in NE than when we lived 300 miles south, always very humid, ick. Thanks too for confirming my memory of plecs being river fish, sucker mouth, sucker belly both adaptations for hanging o...

Hi, just a quick question, what do you do about high temps in summer for the hillstreams? No central air & can't really justify room a.c. for fish. Just more aeration? No hillies yet but everyone's pics make it tempting...

My clowns came out more when I added some "high shade" with large leaved plants & driftwood, maybe floating plants so it's not too bright. I'm not familiar with your hampala barbs. Do they school all over the tank to let the clowns know all is safe? I had silver-tip tetras as dithers but they spent ...

an insanity of insomnia

Circus should be right, I just dislike the Bozo kind, mimes too. How about: a cotillion of (dancing) clowns or a cluster of (sleeping) clowns, a string of yoyos, a cuddle of khulis, a dotting of kubotais? But wait there's more! A mountain of hillstreams, a sh*tload of schisturas, a scribble of sewel...
