Re: loach tank set up - im new to this

Yeah, I vote more yoyos in a 75g. I've tried to keep clowns in that size tank & it's a short term solution at best. I haven't kept yoyos, but I'd go with 7 or 8 without other loaches. As LL said, clowns do eat plants. Mine were small-ish (6 + inches). The plant eating was less when I fed veggies lik...

TY, I was think it might be this, Chinese high-fin banded loach (or shark) (Myxocyprinus asiaticus). Those get HUGE!

Re: Videos. Cyst bursting. Silver Dollar (lives with loaches)

Wow, Fran! Your silver dollar looks almost as good as new! Congrats on your good care & your fish's amazing healing powers. It sounds like your water params are under very good control now, keep it up! On the goldfish rescue, I don't know...Maybe find him a home in a nice pond nearby? With permissio...

You may have seasonal water differences too, Fran. I did in MA & now in CA.

Re: Kuhli Loaches hiding

Tiko, do you only have 1 kuhli? they're very social... When I had 6 striped, they hardly moved when I reached in the tank. I also had "black" pangios (oblongas) & they were a bit more hyperactive, but not shy.

Re: Building my first loach tank!!!

I'm not sure I understand your measurements. Is the Rio 180 gallons or liters? Either way, you don't have room for 30 more loaches of any species. At best your current fish will be ok for a short time.

Now more pics please!

Sounds like you have interesting tanks, but none of your pics show. Please try again, I think you need a hosting site for them to work here.

Re: Why can't I keep Sewellia Lineolata

I have F-1 (first generation from wild parents) sewellia that were used to Repashy gel food Soylent Green. I don't know if it's available to you, but it's an "auf wuchs" (algae/biofilm) replacement. I have had fry a few times (F-2s) :D I also have many live plants that help with both water quality &...

Re: Loaches rubbing on wood

Sometimes new people don't know to start a new thread after searching a topic. It's very often spam but I usually look without clicking on any link. I'd think loaches.com was too small a target for most spammers but it happens a lot these days. I felt Tikobird was genuine in asking questions without...

Re: Loaches rubbing on wood

It could be from fine sand dust stirred up in the water column irritating the loaches. Do you see any cloudiness? Lots of water changes near the substrate may help.

Re: Videos. Cyst bursting. Silver Dollar (lives with loaches)

I agree with LL, that difference between you tap & tank TDS is concerning (still). I've never used Stability & I forget why you are, although I know we've discussed it. I hope you can get to the point that weekly (or 2x) WCs 40-50% are "enough" to keep your tank stable. This constant adjustment does...
