I don't know, but it seems a bit better, a smaller black area. What do you think, Fran?

Re: Videos. Cyst bursting. Silver Dollar (lives with loaches)

Any change in the black area yet, Fran? I know it hasn't been long... but if any more falls off (or out), I'd vacuum ASAP. I don't know if fish might eat it or if it might release whatever it may be into the water but keep a close eye on this.

Re: Videos. Cyst bursting. Silver Dollar (lives with loaches)

Well, it seems your vet is on the same page as LL & I are on. WCs, WCs!!! They can't hurt & may well help. Like I said, do what you can in a reasonable way; that's all you can do. I don't see a need to invest $100+ on what may be end of life care. Fish get old, get cancer, infections or whatever. Do...

Re: Videos. Cyst bursting. Silver Dollar (lives with loaches)

Well, I prefer a low level of intervention with old fish especially. They, like people, etc., eventually die of "something". We can often only help them on that road as best we can...& it sounds like you're doing all you can. Keep it up, & good luck. Your fish may well live a longer life with your g...

Re: Videos. Cyst bursting. Silver Dollar (lives with loaches)

That is strange! But sometimes "infections" get "walled off" by the body & eventually "resolve" themselves by working their way to the skin surface & out. I've seen that in people & birds, but not fish. I would change water often (yeah, that again!). I don't see redness or ulceration, so that's good...

Re: Weird red algea?

I've had this kind of alga too & I don't mind it either. My fish graze on it & it doesn't seem to take over in any way.

I, at first, thought you meant black beard alga, I have that in 1 tank (sigh).

Re: How Many Noodles is too Many?

There a couple of 50g shaped tanks What are the dimensions of yours?

I can see a few ways these tanks & fish could work, but for starters, yoyos, synodontis & gourami in 1 in a semi-aggressive tank. Pangios & corys can be fine, if there's enough floor space...

Re: Different growth rate in the “teensy” clowns

I wonder if the big size difference is just a sex/size issue. Males grow much slower, females faster. When I grew out small clowns the females were close to 50% larger after a year or so. I agree with LL, if your fish were well dosed for worms in QT, you don't need to keep doing it. Drugs are not wi...

Re: Planning my new 29 :)

Well, I'm going with F vs C temps, lol @ Bas Pels. But 73 or 74F would be the lowest temp for kuhlis IMO. White clouds would prefer at least slightly lower; not the best choice for either. Look at red tailed rasboras (boraras petensis), they're very similar in color & size to white clouds & happy at...

Re: Planning my new 29 :)

Well, my experience with a BN pleco & kuhlis is different from Loach's...but mine were in a 4ft tank. Yes, a BN can be pushy, but they don't really harm other fish IME. It may be that mine was a female in a 4ft 40g; & male in a 75g. In a 55g 4 ft tank I would be happy with 10 or even 15 kuhlis with ...
