Re: Planning my new 29 :)

Well, I'd go with a few Dennisonii barbs OR a lot whiteclouds (10 or 12), 3 dojos & a BN & call it good. But wait until you actually have a 4 ft tank...like I said, life can get in the way of our best laid plans. Good luck!

Re: Planning my new 29 :)

In a 29g I would go with much smaller fish. For loaches I'd go with 6-8 kuhlis OR sidthimunkis & a small schooling fish like rasboras or tetras, say 10 or either. IF you really "have to have" a BN pleco (female for size preference) then only 6 of either loach species with lots of hiding places. Your...

Re: Update on my loaches! With video

If frozen blood worms are 1 of your choices, I like to slice up a slightly thawed cube into small pieces. That way the sids (& darios & rasboras) can snarf up several bits without much fighting; & they thaw faster too. Bloodworms have a kind of tough outer layer that can take a few tries for the loa...

Re: Update on my loaches! With video

2 feedings a day are good! But that will also mean more water changes. That's the best way to keep young fish growing fast & well.

Both of your species look great! Feed up the sids, they look small yet.

Re: Growth rate of Yoyo loaches

It could be due to internal parasites, they can cause stunting. Have you ever treated them with flubendazole or levamisole? you might consider it.

Re: How to have Diatom free aquarium?

Well, a 20g tank is, at best, a quarantine tank for clown loaches & SAE in the short term. If you cannot get at least a 4 ft tank very soon, you should rehome both & get a much smaller loach species like A. sidthimunki (dwarf chain loaches) or pangios (kuhlis).

Re: *My* algae wafer!

I like the vid & your tank! I was curious about your "special" gold barbs too, now I get it.

I like the darios! Now fatten them up! & change water often, they're still small fairly but cute!

I had a couple botia species that stashed food, be watchful & vacuum their caves if needed.

I finally watched the filtration video (sorry). & while I agree with much he said, I'm going with 2 large filters over just 1.

Re: Levamisole

I would up your WCs to, say, 40+% once a week or 30+% twice /week if you can. Your nitrate level is fine: but your loaches are young & lots clean water is important for their growth. You can cut that back as they grow...eventually. To me, there's no such thing as "too many" WCs for young fish. Good ...

Re: Levamisole

Except for forgetting to remove the carbon, it sounds like you're doing very well by your loaches. I would act like the carbon removed all the levamisole before it could work & redose as if you hadn't treated them at all...Unless your carbon was 2 or 3 weeks old, then it might not matter much. Carbo...
