Re: Talk to me of sidthimunki

Let me know if the photo appears sideways again lol! I’ll try to figure out why. I took this about 2 weeks ago. Except for the smallest 2, they are noticeably larger and fatter. I discovered they love the shrimp pellets!

Re: Talk to me of sidthimunki

I’ve had the little guys in quarantine for 3 weeks now. I absolutely love them! I also did purchase the Darios. But I only have 1 left. 🙁🙁 I had a water disaster that I described in Fran’s matrix thread. Let’s just say, I need to re evaluate my water source and as of right now, I am not using my wel...

Re: WOOOOHOOOOO Seachem Matrix

But I still didn’t yet link to the water and thought there was something wrong in the 29 g tank. I had recently moved my rescue Tiger barbs (I got back into fish keeping over a year ago when a friend’s father passed leaving a whole condo full of fish tanks) out of that tank. The last couple of month...

Re: WOOOOHOOOOO Seachem Matrix

Well. I warned it is a long story lol! But I’m procrastinating going out in the pouring rain to feed my horses! First, my understanding of the bottled purified water is that it is RO water with some minerals added back in. I have been testing everything lately with my API kits and it tests as acidic...

Re: DISSOLVED OXYGEN TEST KITS

Or maybe we could discuss what we should be doing to ensure our tanks are adequately oxygenated?

Re: WOOOOHOOOOO Seachem Matrix

I love your videos! What size is your tank again? I have a 75 that is currently stocked with 3 Tiger barbs and 5 golden diamond barbs. I need to add to both those schools and was thinking about cherry barbs also. I was originally looking for Histrionicas for the 75 but my LFS had the Darios and they...

Re: WOOOOHOOOOO Seachem Matrix

It is a pain to open those canisters! Mine has only been running since July and I added the pads in September maybe? I need to check my notes. So I don’t know if I need to replace them. I should inquire the next time I’m at my LFS. I’m having major source water issues right now. I’m thinking my well...

Re: WOOOOHOOOOO Seachem Matrix

Thanks for the review!
I have Professional Blue nitrate reducer pads in my Fluval 406. The same as your experience, it took several weeks to see a decrease.
So I’m about to add them to the HOB on my 40g also.

What else should I feed my sids?

They are eating Hikari algae wafers. And I *think* they are eating the thawed baby brine shrimp. Didn’t realize those things were so tiny. So after I thaw them and syringe them into the tank, I do see the sids get more active and start rooting around the substrate and rock and plants. I also have Oc...

Re: Talk to me of sidthimunki

Exactly Nancy. Which is why I decided to not get another shark. I can say that I would have plans to update but I really like my 40 g and don’t want to add another tank for the shark as it matures. But I now have 10 sids in my 10g quarantine. They are so cute! And a few are quite tiny. What sold me ...

Re: Talk to me of sidthimunki

Thank you Bas Pels.
The 40 g was a free tank and it came with the gravel so that’s how I set it up. But I’ve been thinking of changing it to sand anyway.
My LFS also mentioned they have Botia dario in stock. I’m just going to take a drive down there today and have a look!

Talk to me of sidthimunki

On my regular call to my one LFS, the guy told me no Histrionicas in stock yet but that he has about 50-60 sids in stock. I told him I have my heart set on Histrionicas for my 75. But, I have my 40 breeder. Hmmm. It was stocked with a RTBS and 8 scissortail rasboras. The shark was a small juvenile. ...

I was wondering if there was a “season”.
Cool.
