BTW, there are so many Schistura species with a black spot followed by a yellow/orange spot at the base of the dorsal fin, so this character is pretty useless at the species level.

Erromyzon is not named after a Mexican astronomer, politician, and educational reformer (geez, where did you dig that up ?). The name comes from the Latin error meaning straying from the truth and the Greek myzon, meaning breast, and comes from the fact that members of this genus used to be mistaken...

HH, any idea why Patrick has assigned these fish the common name of 'Sumatran Scooter Loach' if they were actually caught in a different location (Thailand)? I know common names are not to be taken as gospel, but it just seems a strange thing to do if they are not from Sumatra.....why not just call...

I am not sure if they will make it to the retail stores (I have seen other fishes at the importer that sometimes make it to the retail outlets).

These are not B. diabolica, but the undescribed southeastern Thai species. I will be going down to pick some up from Patrick on Tuesday and will get pics out.
