Re: checking in

Wow, those are some pretty serious problems with the filters and are not the sort of problems that I would expect from Eheim. Mine have been excellent so far. I'll just have to see how it goes in the long run.

Re: checking in

Your tanks are looking good. Since my Eheims are now 2-3 years old, I am curious as to what problems you are having with yours?

Glenna, your tank looks really nice. I like the plants above it on either side.

Re: My clown loaches

Sorry to hear about your clown. The pictures look great. Like Starsplitter, I especially like the next to the last photo of the clowns "peeking".

Re: video of filter setup on 10ft loach tank

It is always very interesting to see how a big set-up is running. Thank you for giving such a nice detailed description. Your system looks very good and well thought out. I especially like the planted tank which is most likely quite a good filter.

Prices must vary quite a bit. Locally here, yoyos have been available for several years at a price of $3.39 a piece.

I really enjoyed these two videos. Seeing them next to a sewelia has made me realize that they are quite a bit larger than I thought. Very beautiful and very interesting behavior!

My experience is that it is very common. Many of mine that are from 2 inches to 6 inches have had periodic squabbles. I have a pair of kubotai that for the last year and a half have battled for about 2-3 days about every three weeks. They do not hurt each other, but chase each other in very fast sma...

Seven clowns at 8-9 inches is a huge bioload for this size of tank and even if you could introduce slowly, I would would think long and hard before adding them. My guess is that if you are successful, you will be doing very large water changes very often in order to keep the nitrate under control.

My experience is also that the spots are caused by water chemistry issues. I use R.O. filtered water and twice I have had some black spots. Each time I realized that it was time to change my carbon input filters on the R.O. filter. After changing the carbon input filters the black spots disappeared....
