[quote=" The vast majority of decent aquatic shops keep their fish on systems with UV sterilisers running 24/7. All this talk of sterile water and then not being able to move fish into a tank without a UV is verging on scare-mongering. You just don't hear of hoards of fishkeepers having these sort o...

A sterile environment is not healthy, because it makes the imune system lazy or incapable of dealing with new infections. In the 1990TH a lot of discus breeders or more their customers had to learn it the hard way, because the fishes were in a lot of trouble, when leaving those pampered aquariums. T...

Food, yeah I forgot I try everything, here`s what worked until now, but I have to add that not everything is taken at all times, like bananas, pieces of coconut, cucumber, noodles (isn`t that the word for pasta?), spinarch ( you know Popeye). Swimming food is sunken with stainless steel skrews. Eart...

First the water: ph 6,5 - 7; hardness ~8,5° dH, carbon ~ 4° dH; my normal tapwater hardness; temperature 26 °C; 80% waterchange 5 days previously with aproximately temperature drop to 20 - 22°C, (hence the suspicion that somebo...

No offense taken. I posted the photo to discuss it and esspecially the odd spot. I knew that there would be some irritations about it, but didn`t realize that the poor thing looks like she was involved in a particularly ugly accident. It was ment as a cry of mock astonishment. So, sorry Graeme, I am...

It`s aproximedly 4,5 inch long, didn`t messure, because I don`t like to stress them and honestly I forgot. It is definitly female, because I`m sure that she spawned at least once. The spots are starting to appear, they`ll get bigger with extending belly and suddenly disappear. Bruise I might exclude...

It will increase in size with progressing maturity and dissapear after spawning. Has somebody else seen something like this or is there anot...

The pic has 380kb after resizing, my connection has 10 MBit/s, I tried again, waited 10 Minutes and nothing happened, it was like watching an Ingmar Bergman movie. No failure report, just the input side blank.
