A number of the Tiger Botia (Syncrossus sp) can get 25cm or so, but they are not peaceful fish. Personally I'd stick to the Clowns and have as many as you can accomodate

Hi Jerry, Whilst it can be a bit worrying not seeing your new Clowns out and about, it doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. On the whole, the bigger ones tend to be much more secretive and hide away quite a lot. A good example is Marge, our 11.5" Clown. After introducing her to our existing ...

As mentioned earlier, we have seen that Clown Loaches are capable of producing quite a bit of mucus. This could be primarily used to aid the fishes immunity to pathogens. As they are termed 'scale-less', it is possible that they have a higher capability to produce mucus to compensate for less protec...

Sadly no chance of finding S. speciosa over here yet, Hendra. The S. lineolata have become available only very recently, and not many shops have them (or are likely to know how to look after them properly).

Did it look anything like this :?: http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/speciesSummary.php?ID=12298&genusname=Gyrinocheilus&speciesname=aymonieri Just wondering as there are gold variants of this species out there, and they are quite commonly sold as 'sucking loaches' or 'algae loaches' even though they ...

Thank you for your kind comments! :D I feel priveleged that I was able to watch this show of aggression for over an hour in a well-lit tank, with the two fish concerned right out in the open. I am amazed that they weren't worried by me being there so close to the tank, and with a camera continually ...

Aggressive behaviour in Sewellia lineolata - photos!

Hi all, On Tuesday evening, we were waiting at the shop for our usual tropical fish shipments to arrive. However, they were later arriving than usual, so in the meantime, I went round having a good look at all the fish in the shop, making sure that everything was ok. When I got to my favourite part ...

Hi Ana, You will have to perform some 'cabinet surgery' to your tank lid. You firstly need to figure out where you are going to position the inlet and outlet pipes for the filter, then cut out a small area from the lid so that the pipes just fit through. Any bigger and you may risk fish jumping out,...
