Re: keeping a solo clown loach
Skunk botia and Skunk Loach are both common names for Yasuhikotakia morleti : http://www.loaches.com/species-index/yasuhikotakia-morleti Even though you rehomed your discus, Y. morleti are not suitable for the general peaceful community aquarium. This is the sort of scenario that highlights why it i...

Re: keeping a solo clown loach
Hi ontheairship, welcome to Loaches Online. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what you would like to hear. Clown loaches are highly sociable fish and NEED to be kept in groups (preferably 5 or more) for long-term wellbeing. They form a complex social hierarchy and absolutely must have company of their...

Leptobotia elongata in the UK!
Hi all, We took delivery of a shipment of Leptobotia elongata this evening. They are absolutely amazing beasties! These haven't been seen in the UK for some years now, so it was a really special day for us. Here are some pics of the loaches acclimatising, more (better) pics coming soon! http://i921....

Re: CLOWN LOACH VIOLENCE LAST 2 DAYS HELP
Hi LO, This is really unusual behaviour for clowns or striata. I have to wonder if the catfish were ill/dying and that's when the loaches started to pick on them. It's horrible but unfortunately not unheard of for usually placid fish to start picking on sick fish - somehow they know when something i...

Re: Baby Panda Garra!!!!!
Can anyone lend you their camera for a couple of days? Would be great to see more pics. We can get hold of captive bred G. flavatra at about 2cm and they are really sweet so your little one must be unbelievably cute at just a cm or so! And I bet where there is one, there are more..... do you have an...

Re: My rainbow loach from China
Beautiful! This is one of my all time favourite species, I kept some many years ago, but have not seen them available for a long time now. How many do you have? Would love to see some more photos.

New loach genus - Pteronemacheilus
Bohlen & Slechtova have described a new Schistura species ( S. callidora ) from the Myitnge River drainage, Irrawaddy basin, in Myanmar. They also detail the new genus Pteronemacheilus and it's type species P. lucidorsum in this open access paper: http://www.pfeil-verlag.de/04biol/pdf/ief22_1_01.pdf...

Re: Banded Pangio ID
One question someone here might know the answer to - are there any commercial fish exports from the Mahakam river basin? There have been sporadic imports from the Mahakam region in recent times - this is where the newly exported Rasbora lacrimula have been coming in from. But I haven't personally b...

Spiky Stripes
Thought you all might like to see a pic of one of our biggest clown loaches, Stripes, with suborbital spine extended: http://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad52/CanaryLoach/Fish/DSCN7453AA.jpg Quite pleased with how the photo came out, considering I took it after lights out. Stripes measures exactly 11...

That sounds interesting. They may be available more often!! :D I doubt it, Jim. I have heard about "new" names on lists, Emma. Here is a photo showing a recent shipment of Gastromyzon viriosus , which is what the supplier said they had!: http://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad52/CanaryLoach/Fish/DSCN...
