I think you're on the right tracks there, Jim. The P. rhomboocellatus in the trade are currently all wild-caught; they're collected from peat swamps and blackwater streams in Borneo. You could always add some aquatic peat to your filter to help replicate their preferred conditions.

Re: Ideal small loach for 60 litre planted?
Yunnanilus spp. would not eat snails though, which is primarily what George was looking for. They may be suited to a smallish set up, but they are also capable of jumping from an open topped tank.

Re: Ideal small loach for 60 litre planted?
Hi George, I also wouldn't advise on loaches for an open-topped set up with such a high water line. It's a beautiful tank, but a little on the small size for the majority of loaches. There are a few smaller species that you could consider if you were able to fit covers, but none of them would really...

Re: Yasuhikotakia splendida Temperment?
Robin! Great to hear from you again! Hope you're well. :D I wouldn't trust Y. splendida with anything that is very placid, like your kuhli loaches, horsies, cories, or B. striata . I think they would even upset your clowns. Although maybe not quite as nasty as some species, Y. splendida can be very ...

Laos Millipede loaches
Hi all, Thought you might like to see these little beauties that came in at the end of last year from Laos. The supplier tentatively called them Schistura cf. bolavenensis . When they arrived, they were absolutely miniscule. Here's a few pics from December last year, followed by some more recent pic...

Re: ID and helpful info for hillstream loaches?
Just another word of advice: as well as working on increasing the current in your tank, you could do with working on your manners too.Rusty wrote:Yes we realised the need for increased current a little while ago, we are working on this.

Re: ID and helpful info for hillstream loaches?
Hi Rusty, You have a Pseudogastromyzon species there, either P. cheni or P. myersi . The following link should help you to differentiate between these two very similar species: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/pseudogastromyzon-cheni You really do need to increase the current in your tank, these...

Hi there,
You actually have some Corydoras catfish there, not loaches. You might like to have a look at this link to help identify them:

Excellent photographs, Menu! It is always great to see proper detailed evidence of loach spawnings. Have you found any fry?

Re: Blue botia and clowns?
Hi millsn, In my opinion, Clown loaches and Blue botia ( Y. modesta ) are not a good combination. You will find that many people claim to 'get away' with such a mixture, but in reality the Blues are far too aggressive to be housed alongside the Clowns (which are gentle giants). Although they have si...

Re: Garra flavatra (Panda garras)
Congratulations on finding panda garras at last, Tanja! You will love them. Graeme was the first person in the UK to breed this species. Can't seem to find his old thread on here (have searched and searched) but I did find a link to when he posted on the PFK forum a few years ago, that mig...

Jim, did you know Tetra bought out a new range of gel foods called Natura? Not sure if you can get them over there? I thought of you when I saw them as I know you used to be able to get a gel food to put on the rocks in your hillstream loach tanks. http://www.tetra-fish.co.uk/tetra/go/7B4ECF...
