Re: Sewellia marmorata fry
Thanks all. Smaller ones just not to fix. Seems, that S. marmorata is not so easy to breed (like S. speciosa, S. elongata, SEW04) A thick layer of coarse pebbles along the backside of the tank (140x30x30) and food twice a day seems to have changed their mind. SEW03 have the same set-up and were easy...

Re: Has the forum considered Breeding Reports as a site func
Hi Jim The fact is, that most sites are a bit "starving". I'm not so sad about it, as for about ten years there has been a lot of "flow" in the hobby and hobbyist could benefit. At least German speaking hobbyist did great work, breeding Annamia normani, Yaoshania pachychilus, Liniparhomaloptera disp...

Re: Has the forum considered Breeding Reports as a site func
Hi I don't know if the "forum" has considered the idea. It seems just to roll on and on. The guys who made that work are far away and won't start such a list for shure. Similar lists exist in specialised communities, but not for loaches, not even in Germany. Some specialists make part of BSSW http:/...

Re: Tank Raised Syncrossus berdmorei???
HI
Sorry. Farm raised and wild caught only (former I haven't seen in Europe). Farm bred can be spotted by evenly size, wild differ.
There are no "tank-raised" (no hormons) loaches on market except C. reticulatus. And not by "hobbyists" either.
Cheers Charles

Re: Schistura sp.
Hi Gerhard That's tricky. First thought was Schistura multifasciata species group http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/schistura-sp-6/ Schistura devdvedi could be a guess because patterns are very variable, Schistura fasciolata? http://excursions.aquariophil.org/html/19_hainan_2011_01.html Physoschi...

Re: Gastromyzon ctenocephalus- possible breeding behavior
Hi To which reports about breeding do you refer? Non-Gastromyzini? I know only reports about reproduction of G. auronigrus(?), G. ctenocephalus and G. lepigaster. Breeding behaviour has never been witnessed. Only one description of presumptive courtship behaviour has been reported by Philip DICKMANN...

Re: Please help me identify loach from Borneo
Hi Frank
N. spiniferus was my first guess.
Made me think of Nemacheilus tebo.
http://lkcnhm.nus.edu.sg/rbz/biblio/57/57rbz119-125.pdf
Size would fit, close to N. selangoricus-group. Description comes close.
But: no record outside Lake Tebo-region.
And we have no good pics
Cheers Charles

Re: Are Ambastaia sidthimunki scaleless?
As far as sidthimunki go, all I can see is discussion on the absence of cheek scales. I get that that is used for placement purposes, but does that imply that they have no scales when they don't have cheek scales? Hi Yes indeed. The problem is: as long there is no notice about body-scales - as in t...

Re: Are Ambastaia sidthimunki scaleless?
Hi On Chromobotia macranthus we can find this "Treatment must be carefully monitored, as the fish, like all loaches , is scaleless" seen here http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/cyprinid-species/chromobotia-macracanthus-192353/ Of course it's a must. But the basic statement is wrong. Some facts inste...

Re: How to teach (hillstream) loaches to eat veggies?
Hi Yes that's right. Generally: to mix Pseudogastros with other hillies is a bad idea. It never worked with mine. And: Pseudogastros are fervent algaegrasers (the only scientific work on this behaviour has been done on P. cheni), they even need this nibbling more than others. But the content of alga...

Hi
Just as information: Gerhard Ott has done some work on this species. Sexing is possible a he shows in an article. My way to to this is documented on www.seriouslyfish.com. The species has been bred lately in Germany. Article if required.
Cheers Charles
