kuhli meets farlowella
When I added two farlowella gracilis to the tank this morning, the smaller one went under the kuhli shelf, and a kuhli came over to sniff noses with him. The cat utterly ignored the kuhli, and the rebuffed kuhli gave up after half a minute, and squiggled off to his loach friends. http://i799.photobu...

farlowella catfish
I just got two nice farlowella gracilis, and am very pleased. I don't buy new fish very often, and have never had this species before. I'm astonished that even though they are making no effort to hide (other than their snazzy twig camouflage), these sucker cats seem invisible to my rabid-wolf angelf...

pavlov's kuhlis
My African Dwarf Frogs are in a 2.5 gal glass tank on the same counter as the kuhlis and angels. Three times a week the frogs get thawed frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp or mosquito larvae from a stainless-steel hemostat, which inevitably clinks softly against the glass a few times. At this sound, th...

My tank is at work, so my poor loaches (and the angels) starve every Saturday and Sunday. In spite of this, everyone seems fine, fat and healthy. I do a 20% WC weekly, vacuum the sand, and rinse or replace filter media. The tank is understocked, but my coworkers make up for this by overfeeding. I wo...

Wouldn't it solve several problems to sell your landlady? I mean, then there'd be no problem affording or being allowed to keep a 55 gal. You might have enough left over to buy several dojos :) Seriously, I admit I'm biased, but it sounds like kuhlis are the answer. They're peaceful and gregarious, ...

I used to put Indian Almond leaves in with my kuhlis, but the loaches literally loved them to pieces, making a real mess. I feel bad, because they played hide-and-seek and keep-away among the leaf litter, but it plugged up the filters. I still put one in my african dwarf frogs fishbowl, since they h...
