So did you get the gobies, then?

2252 in a 63 l tank seems like a serious tornado to me. Unless you install spraybars or such to constrict the flow a bit...

Powerheads work upside down.
Getting air out of the pipes is the hard part, especially if the pipes are above waterline. If you manage that, then there is no problem.

You people are the worst.
Here I was, once again, totally happy with the 5ish species of hillsters in my tanks, minding my business...BAM!

I want more.

Truly a nice find, Jim. 'Grats. Pics!

Hi, my name is Timo and I'm an addict as well.

Currently down to 7 tanks from the high of 18. It's a constant struggle.

A universal advice: when you empty a tank, get rid of it immediately.
I haven't. They are in storage, more than ten of them. The itch is constant. I can't sleep at nights.

Re: Do old fish differ from young fish?

The forum at Aquaria Central suggested I post a message here, given that loaches can live a very long time. I'm a journalist working on a story about aging in animals--there's lots out there about mammals but not much about fish. I thought I'd ask people who may have kept fish for a long time wheth...

I think mine doesn't look half as cool and slick as yours did. That long plastic box meant for some kind of balcony handrail flower growing is not as clean as just a transparent box. I just didn't have the guts to try and grow herbs in plain water with no substrate. Yours were (and are?) in just wat...

Thanks for the update! Looking good, I seriously envy your natural sunlight tubes. So great. Beautiful healthy fish, too. Sorry to hear the windowsill boxes were discarded. The tube on top of the tank does the same job, I'm sure. I was inspired by your design on the original boxes and got around to ...

I would love to see an update on your setup, how is plant growth with the skylights? Also, how are your window sill growth boxes doing?
Thanks.

I wonder if the reason for the different activity and bravery of these could be that they get a bit more timid as they get older? Mine are young, still growing. A bit more experience now. At first my Y. cruciatuses were always swimming around the tank, adorably together and always on sight. Now, a ...

Any more info on care than is in the book/on Loaches.com? How big a tank do they like? Will they play well with Sewallia, gastromyzons, etc? Am very tempted for the 48" hillstream tank we are setting up... As an expert with one week of keeping these guys I can say that they don't bother with other ...
