How old/how large are your yoyo loaches ? The yoyos have to learn how to sneak up on the snail and suck it out of its shell before it closes up. I have aquaclear HOB filters and and eheim canister on my sand tanks. I have sponge pre-filters on most intakes, some I trim the tube to get the intake a little higher off the substrate. I haven't had any problems. Pre-filters will restrict the flow somewhat depending on the density of the sponge/h...

Hi all, I live in Kitchener, which is in South-Western Ontario, Canada. In the last few weeks I have shown some loaches in shows at various Aquarium clubs in the area. I'm not sure but it looks very much like Acanthocobitis pavonacea to me but I have only ever seen one photo of that species.
