Can you describe the tank setup? Loaches like lots of hiding places, so if the tank is lacking in that department they may be trying to get out of there. Driftwood is great for them, for example, and lots of people use bamboo caves etc. I have never had a loach jump out, and I have not had to seal t...

They are few and far between in shipments of danios, platys and fancy goldfish........(just slightly...

$50 seems a bit steep. The only place I have seen with prices as high as that (relatively speaking) is Petland - their mark-up seems rather ridiculous at times. Having said that, 3-4 inches is much larger than they are normally sold at (I have seen them at 1-2 inches), so from that perspective it ma...

Try frozen brine shrimp, blood worms and the like. My striata took a while to get used to some foods. For example, they wouldn't touch the algae wafers and were moderately interested in zucchini. One of them was particularly finicky and wouldn't eat flake food (I have 10, all ought at the same time)...

You might get a few years without problems. I keep mine in a rather heavily planted tank 3-4 species of Cryptocoryne. My larger clowns are about 5 inches now. I feed them lots of veggie matter, so perhaps that helps.

Strictly speaking F1 means "first filial generation", and is a term applied to the first generation offspring of two parental lines P. It's terminology used primarily in genetics and plant or animal breeding, usually to achieve or study some phenotypical (morphological traits) expression of genetic ...

It's ridiculous to sell clowns at that size. Not surprising for Petland. They bring in some nice fish once in a while, but their prices are completely off the chart.

If it's a planted tank, in particular, you might need aeration at night, since the plants respire (use up oxygen) then, rather than photosynthesize.

How long have you had them? It took 4 months for my newly acquired 5" CL to start coming out at feeding time. Now it's out most of the time (and I have lots of cover)

Wow, I didn't know they had that much orange in the dorsal fin! How big is that fish? Some of my kubs and striatas will do the same thing, but they don't want you to get too close!
