Re: Sids or striatas? Or....?
Still, this is the species that, according to your experience, is the most peaceful and the one you would recommend for my tank? There is almost a foot difference between 1m and 1.2m. They need that extra length for swimming. JMO, but I think you should get sids or striata for the size tank that yo...

Re: Out and about clowns
Thank you for your comments, redshark1. I agree that the upper limit is 77°F (20° C), I have had these for over 1.5 years and got them when they were very small. I keep my 125, with the loaches, at around 80°F. They seem to be doing well and growing. Unless you are trying to breed a certain fish, I ...

Re: Sids or striatas? Or....?
I would not keep the yoyo by itself. And, I think the aquarium is too small for it. I like sids more than striata. I have both in a 75 gallon tank and the sids are much more active. Here is a video of them at feeding time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMLMD11GqTo&list=UUQflsSJsJ0T6ayG0vF7XZXQ&inde...

Re: Clowns, yoyos and queen botias together
LFS in Waco, TX gets them in once or twice a year. Not many people want loaches, but she orders some for me every now and then. http://northwacotropicalfish.com/ Every once in a while you can find them on http://www.aquabid.com. I have order many fish from aquabid.com and been happy with 99% of them.

Re: Clowns, yoyos and queen botias together
If you are talking about the Botia dario. There should be no problem keeping them with clowns and yoyos. http://www.loaches.com/species-index/botia-dario The above article says they can get to 6", but that has not been my experience. Mine (seven) are only about 3" after 3 and a half years. But, that...

Re: Coldwater Loach
Just saying....
A 25 gallon aquarium is 'about' 24x12x20. A Dojo loach has a average length of 9" to 10".
A average room in a lot of homes is 12'x8'x10'. In the US, men (on agerage) are 5' 10" in height.

Re: Lost one of my oldest gastromyzon today
Sorry to hear about your fish, Jim. All of your fish are luck to have found a home with you. Living that long, you must really be doing something right. We don't know (I'm guessing), but it may have lived longer with you than in the wild!

Sort of like people. What?hatran wrote:also could be the genetics of each loach. some loaches living in the same conditions will still end up growing to different sizes.

But what do I know, I've only been keeping them for 18 years?
How modest of you. Can you tell me how fast people grow? Does it depend in any way on where they live and how they live?
