Re: would loaches be a good idea?
Get some 6+cm clown loaches for sure. The larger the little loaches are the better. Ie, don't get the tiny small ones. Try and find a shop that has some small to medium size loaches, 8-10cm size. My loaches (of all varieties) each the Malaysian trumpet snails. I didn't even know what they were calle...

Re: My Sewellia lineolata, sewellia spotted and their FRY
Well I have now sold almost all of my juvenile Lineolata and Spotted Sp fish. I think my total count was 40+ Sewellia Lineolata at 2-4cm, and 60+ Spotted Sp at 3-4.5cm. I still have 10-20 of each left, but they were too small to be sold just yet. The spotted ones sure grow faster and grow larger tha...

Re: Question about Clown Loach behavior
I have about 25 Australian rainbow fish as dither fish in my 6ft clown loach tank, and there is always 10-15 of the clowns out swimming back and forwards, around in circles, etc etc. ESPECIALLY when they see me walk near. Before I had the rainbow fish my loaches were always hiding. They swim up and ...

Re: My Sewellia lineolata, sewellia spotted and their FRY
I think I've answered my own question by doing some research on here:
http://www.loaches.com/articles/the-spa ... evelopment
Stripes turn into spots. I take that to mean I have lineolata fry and ALSO spotted fry.
Now to tell all my customers what they have

Re: My Sewellia lineolata, sewellia spotted and their FRY
As an update, I've been selling off the 3-4cm juveniles now for a few weeks. Over 60 gone out the door to local fish keepers in a matter of no time. I have a question about whether they are all striped or if I have both Spotted and striped juveniles... Does any one have any photos of Sewellia Spotte...

Re: 9 out of 13 fish died in one week-online order
Here in Australia we generally have a good climate for transporting fish via couriers. Having said that though, we can get cold and can definitely get very warm days. Most of the online sellers here only ship when the weather is going to be temperate for the next few days. Some of them refuse to shi...

Re: Some confusion on directions after medication
I guess if you do your water changes really slowly and ensure the water is well oxygenated with lots of bubbles or lots of water movement then you are unlikely to have too much go wrong. If you are worried, maybe just dose 1/3rd the amount first off, then 1-2 hours later dose the next third, so that...

Re: Wanting to start a loach tank.
Ah, so almost a standard 4ft tank size. That size isn't really 'perfect' for any type of loach, because loaches prefer floor space instead of water height, in the same way that corys and bristlenose/l-numbers prefer floor-space and barely ever swim in the middle or top sections of the tank. Dependin...

Re: Some confusion on directions after medication
A gravel vac will remove water, but that is okay, since it doesn't really remove that much water by comparison to how much is in a normal size tank. my recommendation: Do a water change, as per normal. Dose with the de-wormer stuff. Leave in for 24 hours. Do a gravel vac. Top up the water, or leave ...

Re: Wanting to start a loach tank.
There is no need to be impatient.... You first posted only a few days ago, and then not even 21 hours later you post your second comment. Keeping fish requires patience and care. Patience that you seem to lack if I based it on the amount of time between you asking your second question so soon after ...

Re: keeping several species of loaches together
Loaches are better in a larger group of the same species, not mixed groups. Diana, I a have a tank of mixed loaches, with multiple kubotai, striata and sidthimunki loaches, along with a single shistura mahnerti and a pair of Homaloptera smithi in a single 4 ft tank. Would I be better of seperating ...

Re: Clown Loach Info Correction
I live in a sub-tropical area in Australia (Brisbane, Queensland), and it is summer down here at the moment. Our summers frequently have weeks on end where the temperatures are 28-35 degrees Celcius during the day, and only drop to 20-24 degrees at night time. My tanks in my fish room typically sit ...

I think it is a internet browser issue. I've had the same thing happen on my own computer, except I forget which browser it worked with and didn't work with. I think I ended up using Google Chrome browser in the end.

Re: Getting rid of Black beard algae in a hillstream tank
Nice idea. I would like to get rid of my beard algae, but I have so many small sewellia fry from 1.5mm long to 5mm long that live in it that I would never be able to get them out with a gravel vac/syphon. Maybe I could try dosing for a few days at partial dosages and see if it starts dieing off. I t...

Re: Facebook Group
I joined a few days ago as well. I"ll have to add an album of facebook photos called "Loaches", and only let my Loaches group friends see them. (My other friends might think I'm weird, otherwise, posting a full album of just fish photos. It isn't exactly the sort of thing that facebook is used for)
