Re: 55 Gallon Stocking

I've had Kubotai with kuhlis and Yoyos with Kuhlis and would definately go with Nancy's suggestion as I believe my yoyos actually ate my Kuhli loaches. At the moment I have Kubotai with black Kuhlis and they don't bother each other at all.

Re: 30 gallon stocking suggestions

In my opinion I think you're right to steer away from neons they are quite inbred now and so aren't the healthiest of fish. Just to give you other options have you look at any of the small danio species such as glowlight etc. They would enjoy the bit of extra flow you're planning on adding.

Re: Losing Fish due to Ammonia but other parameters are fine

Thanks for the help. The new filter arrived a few days ago and I put the old media into the filter. The ammonia rose for a day but is now steadily reducing so I'm quite happy, almost at 0. (No other fish have died). How often should I clean the filter (obviously not for a while whilst the bacteria i...

Re: Losing Fish due to Ammonia but other parameters are fine

Thank for your advise. I've done a water change but have also ordered a new external filter as I've been unsure about the one I have now for awhile. I don't know how often its meant to turn water over but I'm pretty sure that it's not even doing a tank-full (260L) an hour. The current coming out of ...

Losing Fish due to Ammonia but other parameters are fine

Hi One of my fish died (congo tetra) yesterday but I didn't think much of it as he was very old and not looking great for a while however this morning I found two more fish dead (splash tetra) which prompted me to test the water. The ammonia is 0.25 ppm (I'm guessing this is what cause the fish deat...

I bought new fish a few months ago and they all died after a few days. their skin became discoloured at a small point on each and then spread across the fish rapidly. before I bought these fish no fish had died in my tank for years. I tested the water after this incident and found the ammonia to be ...

when I lived in America I was shocked by the conditions that puppies in the pet shops were kept. In England though you cant sell dogs and cats in pet shops any more and about 2 years ago a new law was passed by the RSPCA (SPCA in America) giving fish the same rights as dogs and cats so now people ca...
