I use a 10g also with a whisper filter so I can grab a filter bag off a bigger tank & it's cycled with an adjustable flow. I have a lot of water fern that I can float or anchor down to help the fish feel secure & then throw away. Plus a rock with java fern is often left in. I tend to quarrantine new...

Is this a brand new store or just new to you Kris? I think, like all of us at some time, newly set up tank or tanks can have more problems than normal. Hopefully it won't be the usual, independant shops are getting harder to find & we'll loose the interesting fish they are more apt to carry than the...

Bleach near the carpet?!? I'm sure my mother would have freaked out more than over the boyfriend upstairs LOL. Do you have an old shower curtain or tarp you can put down? A square shaped plastic container can help scoop out most of the water. A really wet towel with the dilute bleach can be draped o...

Thank you all. I think I may have found an answer. Latish last night the red tailed rasboras were spawning. I didn't realize they were big enough at barely 2 inches. They harassed the tired out partner by ramming it's side as it rested near the top. I had no idea any rasboras were so rowdy. But if a...

dead sid
Yesterday I found 1 of my sids dead, I'm very bummed out. His color was still good so it hadn't been all that long. One side of his abdomen was slightly pink. Bacteria? Changed some water & found a dead rasbora with a chewed tail. All seemed ok Thursday so whatever it is, it was fast. I would not ha...

I feed NLS thera-A too but I would not expect it to actually kill parasites, more of a vitamin & nutrition boost to help them fight off minor illnesses. If you suspect parasites I would suggest using something else that is effective for the specific infection. I used to worry about small amounts of ...

I have malachite green that is useful for treating ick & some other diseases, half dose for loaches. The kind without formalin etc has a very long shelf-life. (Formalin tends to go bad, I think it gets a bad smell so you can tell if it's ok or not but it's also a useful drug) I also have levamisole ...
