I should also add that for those not familiar with the Juwel tanks, the Rio 180 measures 101 x 50 x 41 and holds 180 litres (approx 47.5 US gals). The built-in filtration is, in my view, not particularly efficient, and even in a 'normally stocked' aquarium, people should seriously think about adding...

I have to say that in the past we have had no success whatsoever when using Sterazin for Chronic Wasting Syndrome in loaches. The wording on the treatment bottle is rather ambiguous: " aid the control of internal parasites" being the operative words, and not " eradicate internal parasites". The manu...

Hi Pete, Sterazin is only suitable for external parasites, gill flukes etc. It will not treat internal parasites. To have any real success in treating your loaches for internal parasites, you need to find yourself a helpful vet who will prescribe some Levamisole hydrochloride. fusQer - Out of intere...

 Ha ha!!! You crack me up! Well, you will be relieved to know that you have DEFINITELY done the right thing in dosing with Protozin at half strength, as loaches are particularly sensitive creatures and will not tolerate the full dose in one go. The bottle or leaflet that comes with the treatmen...

As the owner of a rather large shoal of Clowns with varying head shapes, and after an obscene amount of accumulated hours spent observing them all, I can safely say that I have not noticed any difference in the behaviour of the two head shapes ('round-faced' and 'long-nosed'). This not only refers t...

Hi Pete, Yes, the best course of treatment for internal parasites would be Levamisole hydrochloride. It is not available in UK aquatic shops (the laws on fish treatments over here are very strict), but 'fish-friendly' vetinary surgeons will be able to order it in for you. Sadly, there are not too ma...

Baz, Like Shari says, you'll have to check your fish under the right conditions. It is particularly visible when the fish is viewed head-on. The spots are much smaller than those found with whitespot, the fish appearing as if they have been sprinkled with a fine gold dust. You would also expect to s...
