Thanks, I don't know of many places in the UK that sell pool filter sand - Any UK members got an idea? When I was on holiday last year, I found some really cool beach sand. It was multi-coloured (from all the different rocks in the cliffs) and quite large-grained (it sank real quick when stirred in ...

Substrate Choice
I'm in the process of trying to find a replacement substrate for the pea sized gravel in my tanks and I'm wondering what other people use. Obviously sand is the main choice, but what type? I've heard of people using kids playsand, pool filter sand, shop bought or found naturally from beaches etc. Wh...

I'm still a newbie when it comes to loaches (chosen specialised subject - Military History! ), and I'll admit to not having ordered a copy yet, but if the book contains anything like the advice given on this site (and the main LOL site) then I'm sure it'll enhance all fishkeepers knowledge and...

Hillstream ID Please.
A while back I posted a thread about a possible sewelia seen in one of my LFS, well here it is.
Question is, what flavour is it?
It's not as spotty as a spotted, but not as yellow as a Lineolata

I'm voting for Albert like everyone else, but I think the best pictures on the page are these. Good luck to all. Albert up to 4th place now!! http://www.milliondollartropicalfishpage.com/images/contest/resized/Lion-Fish.jpg http://www.milliondollartropicalfishpage.com/images/contest/resized/a_baensc...

They can indeed look much darker 'in the flesh' compared to some pics taken with a flash. Have a look at some of the pics of the adults in my breeding article: http://www.loaches.com/articles/the-spawning-of-sewellia-sp-spotted-fry-growth-development (not the first pic, but a few of the ones lower ...

Was back in the LFS again this evening and it's still there. This time though it was on the front glass and I got a really good look at it. It's definatley a Swellia and probably still a spotted one at that , but it was a bit darker than the ones in the species index on the main site. It could be th...

Possible Sewellia 'Spotted' spotted in LFS
I was browsing one of my LFS today and I noticed in their 'Coldwater Plec' (I know don't get me started) tank they had what appeared to be a single Spotted Sewellia . I know Emma posted the other day saying that they are rare imports that basically come in as contaminants with batches of other Hills...
