Re: I want shrimp!!!!!

haha....success! Got some RCS at Pet Solutions. I ordered ten online and they were delivered, and came alive and well. I moved all the fish to a bigger tank and let the the new shrimp have the nanocube. All are in there ( I can't really count them as it is pretty well planted, but the ones I see see...

Re: Loach from my locality.

WOW!

That is a beautiful little newt!!

ALSO, THE LOACH IS VERY LOVELY. I do not think we have any indigenous loaches in N.C., but it would be VERY nice to have some.
Do you do much local "fish chasing"?

Re: I want shrimp!!!!!

yeah, it is starting to get cold here, even in the South. I think we might even get a frost here tonight (I HATE cold weather!!!) ...so, I will keep shopping on line and see what comes up, with the plan to get some new shrimp in the Spring. I guess I could go ahead and mature up a holding tank in th...

Re: Sick Weather Loach

yeah, I agree that putting him in quarantine will at least give him a chance to feed and get his strength back. however, he sounds pretty sick. Have you considered treating with antibiotics, or other medication, especially if he has red dots and slime coat issues, he may have a bacterial infection.

I have this one tank that just seems to have constant snail reproduction. I feed snails from that tank to all the others.

Re: Plants to keep with my loaches???

I have golden dojos in a planted yank and they behave very nicely with the plants. I have water wisteria and it grows tall and thick (I do not have CO2 but have a decent T5HO light and the tank is in a well lit room. I do not think this matters with water wisteria as it grows like a weed even in my ...

I want shrimp!!!!!

Well, I have been looking on line and would like to get some cherry red or crystal red shrimp but am nervous about ordering on line, since i have never gotten live fish or inverts in this manner. Both pet Solutions and Foster and Smith sell them, but are out of stock, and have been for a while. I ha...

Re: confessions and aspirations of a lazy fishkeeper

I do not think your substrate change is a "dumb" idea. I have done a substrate change with the fish in the tank and it worked fine, but did take a lot of time and being careful. I think it was a little easier since I was going from sand to gravel. STILL, I did about a third of the tank at a time: su...

Oh, and I love the raspora hets, such pretty fish (I have some of these in the kitchen kuhli tank and they are so elegant!) The tank looks wonderful.... how did the "big mamma" adjust to that lovely hollow log? truly i...

Re: Baby Kuhli Loaches

I am afraid to say I have no suggestions, but think the idea of baby kuhlis is wonderful! You mentioned that you maybe had other sets of babies before that lived? How are they doing (if they are doing well, then I guess YOU should be giving the advice!!) VERY exciting and if you have any pics that w...

Re: stupid country restrictions

WOW, what a bummer
I guess they have their reasons.
Still, you have FIVE good types to experiment with and enjoy. I especially love my clowns and know they will give me years and years of pleasure as long as I keep up my part of the bargain!
What exactly do you have at this point?
