I gave him 40+ shrimp so they could make it to other members; it was amazing how small of a dent it made in the population. Hopefully once I join up, I can find out about future meetings and bring some along myself. I'm mainly looking for plants for my 180g loach tank being set-up, the taller and mo...

just trying to thin out a crowded tank; a community this size should really be in a 20+ gallon, but I don't have the room. I am in no rush to move them, especially because I will be quite busy this up coming week. The tank has a small 50w heater, so it floats from 72-76 degrees during the day. I rar...

Diana, I wasn't previously a member, but I'm joining now :) I'm in San Bruno, but an inconvenient distance (and uphill) from the bart station, and we have a lousy public trans system. I could drop them off at the station or pick you up if you wanted to pick the shrimp out for yourself or see the fis...

Crystal Red Shrimp in the Bay Area
Howdy All. I started with 6 crystal reds in my 10g plant grow out tank months ago, and now there is a carpet crawling on every single surface; I have dozens. They managed to control the mts/pond snail populations and out live all the ghost and amano shrimp. Now I'm looking for good homes in the SF b...

Sadly the fish passed soon after I posted. He didn't seem too stressed, just rested in the floating plants and eventually stopped breathing and drifted to the bottom. I did a water change earlier before I dosed with melafix, and just did another small one. Everyone else in the tank has no idea what'...

Help w/ Injured/Sick Dojo *edit* deceased
Hey everyone. I fed my coldwater tank last night and everyone looked great, and when I got home from work today one of my largest gold dojos was floating near the surface, having trouble righting himself. On one side of his body he has a red mark or bruise, on the other side he has two or three smal...

as long as the fish doesn't look skinny, it just isn't growing, I wouldn't worry. I have 15 clowns, and two of them out of the entire group have had a drastically slower rate of growth than the others. One I purchased with a group a little over a year ago, and another was part of a group I got withi...

my tiger loaches could always click louder than any other loach regardless of size. clowns, yoyos, darios, zebras and kubs all seem to have their own unique tone. it is also odd to note which of my loaches have no idea how to click and which ones can. some of my youngest kubs can, but my 5-6 year ol...

My koralia 4 and 8 both feel a little cheap in general, but nothing has every broken on either unit. When installing the suction cup to the end of the red pivot, I did notice that it didn't seat nearly as deep as I was expecting it to. I thought more of the red shaft sat into the body of the suction...

My suggestion: Stock the tank with a mix of fish. Plan that a few can possibly stay with the Oscar. Plan that you will remove the smaller fish as the Oscar and his buddy grow. Watch the fish to determine which ones (maybe just one or two) are being well treated by the Oscar, and those are the ones ...

I don't know how "big" you are thinking. What about denison barbs? They get up to 6 inches, are peaceful and beautiful. Lovely schooling fish, They say max temp f 77F, but I think they do fine up to 80F and the loaches will be happy there.I am planning an adding them to my 125 gallon with my clowns...

I have a ten gallon that is used for crystal red shrimp as well as growing out new and damaged plants. I've had great sucess with lighting this tank using CFL bulbs and regular clip light fixtures. Versus the standard 15-18w strip light that goes over one of these tanks get one or two 15-30w CFLs an...
