I would say no. Sharp grains and silica. Both would irritate their barbels.

Whoever told you that is wrong. They will need brackish water as they grow or they will not survive. They will also need a much larger tank.

Wild caught fish have a designation of F0. F1 would be first generation of F0 fish which are captive bred.

Welcome Sparky. I have Africans and clowns too. In different tanks. I waited a long time to get clowns and did a lot of research. They are a great fish to keep and will entertain you for many years. Many many years if done right.
