A typical UV sterilizer in the 9 watt range runs about $80-120 US and that's before you add the pump.
Also keep in mind that the bulbs have to be replaced either once or twice a year depending on type.

You are extremely artistic. This was not your first attempt at sculpting.
Awesome work.

I would say no. Sharp grains and silica. Both would irritate their barbels.

Whoever told you that is wrong. They will need brackish water as they grow or they will not survive. They will also need a much larger tank.

Out of curiosity what does F1 stand for? I live in Sri Lanka and have never walked into a Pet land store.
Wild caught fish have a designation of F0. F1 would be first generation of F0 fish which are captive bred.

Hey, I'm in the south bay (san bruno specifically) and would be very interested in the trio. However, I have no experience with any of the schistura family and I am curious if they are right for my set up. They will definitely not fit your setup. Clowns in a 55 won't cut it alone. They need a much ...

Thanks for responses, everybody! Diana, what do you think of keeping the tank at 78F and gradually acclimating Shamu to that from 84F? Is 78F the upper threshold in temps for the neons? What you are attempting to do is acclimate both types of fish to a temp that is not ideal. Neons need it colder t...

Welcome Sparky. I have Africans and clowns too. In different tanks. I waited a long time to get clowns and did a lot of research. They are a great fish to keep and will entertain you for many years. Many many years if done right.
