Re: Tank Mates?

I kept an angel pair with clown loaches for over 6 years and never had an issue... Its often not a recomended combo but definatly doable. The loaches need lots of hiding places like rocks / caves / driftwood The angels love to have lots of plants. I keep a relitively nutral pH. Loads of extra filtra...

Re: Salt treatment experience for clown loaches.

I've had nothing but positive experience with salt treatment. 6 years ago I had a massive ich issue and had no luck with chems. Salt and raising the temp did it for me. No complaints.

Re: Dying Loaches

I keep my loach tank at or above 80. And for loaches the best "medicine" is aquarium salt.

Re: Anyone only have 1 Clown Loach?

Also, what temperature are you keeping your tank? You can pretty much avoid ich all together with a warm enough tank and clowns are not harmed by "higher" temps. My tank is always at or above 80 degrees F and I (knock on wood) have not had any issues with ich sense I raised the temp and its been tha...

Re: Anyone only have 1 Clown Loach?

With proper care and filtration a standard 55 gallon tank can hold 3 clown loaches. At this your stocked to 96%. ideally you would not add anymore bottom dwellers. You could however add some top and mid to top swimmers. Ideally you would want to stick to small fish like common hatches, neon tetras, ...

Re: Tank Mates?

Awsome! Thanks for the link. Yea, I'd like to do all native species in the new tank. So far is seems that danios, raspora, gourami and barbs generally fit the bill... my current tank is preidominantly south American fish... hatchets, an angel, tetras..... It'll be a gradual process. Or I may do one ...

Re: Anyone only have 1 Clown Loach?

Clowns are very social and do best with buddies. That being said I have known them to buddy up with other types of fish. I had a trio of loaches 6 years ago and also had an ich outbreak. It killed every single fish in the tank excluding one loach. Once I for everything cleared up I bought a pair of ...

Re: Tank Mates?

I'm acctually doing research on this myself. I have 3 clowns and some other fish in a 55 but planning to upgrade to a 125 and do a Sumatran / Indonesian style Biotope. The fish I have currently are an international bunch but my goal is to evetually turn over to all natives. So far I have found rainb...

Hello everyone. I currently have a 55g with 3 clowns, 8 hatchets, an angel and a plico. I want to upgrade but money is tight. Re: Help on clown loach setup

I can't give you an answer based on experience where the shark is concerned but most recomend the redtail. I personally have had good luck with angels as a "mid swimmer" for my tank. I have a 55g currently and looking to upgrade to something between a 120 and 150. I can tell you this much. My experi...
