Hi Robert , Just got your PM and I did pick-up 5 Rostrata from Kevin at Rocklea. They are doing fine, $15 is not too much to pay IMHO. Kubotai are now on the Importable List. I was in Noumea recently on a cruise so made a bee-line for the LFS where they had a tank full of Striata and just stood ther...

Hi Jeremy, I am no expert in such things but have been researching to set up a similar system myself. The main problem seems to be getting enough flow from the tank to the sump so the more outlets (bulkheads) and the larger size (25mm+) will help to acheive better flows. When setting up the pump ret...

Congratulations Mark, I have alwys thought you tank with 36 Sids was amazing and have always dreamed of doing it myself but this has really made me decide to do it. I agree with Jim and Emma that large numbers of fish of one variety could be needed for spawning to occur. Thanks for sharing your grea...

Hi Directorate, What loaches that are allowed into Australia by the Government is very small compared to what is available in England, America,Canada,Europe and Asia. We might see more loaches available in the future as AQUIS conducts evaluations continously. Clown Loaches are the most expensive in ...

Hi all, This thread has got way off track by talking about "head-loss" when there is virtually no head loss in Martin's design. It is a non-positive diplacement centrifical pump with flooded suction with NO outlet piping. When talking of flow in piping it is "laminar" in straight piping which means ...

Hi All. There is no "head-loss" in this system as the water is discharged at the same height as the impellor and there is no "suction head-loss" because the water is drawn at the same height as the impellor. There is only loss of flow due to adding the sponge filters as all filters reduce flow. My c...

Hi Sandra, Mark is correct that flow would not be affected much by a few tee's and elbows .Martins design is a "suction manifold" that moves the pump intakes to the other end of the tank There will be a negative pressure in the manifold caused by the pump pulling the water through it.The major cause...

Hi Jess, That's quite a range of fish you have there, should be OK if it is peacefull enough. How does the Ghost Knife handle it? I thought they were a bit shy and hid a lot. I dont have any other fish in my current tank but when I get my 5x2x2 I will get 12 Dwarf Chain's, a couple of Octlinctus and...
