Yeah, he 'found' them on the web...and hasn't posted much there, hmmm?
Also doesn't seem too interested in their care, just that they eat algae...
Post the flyer, Erik. See what he says.

I'd give the water company a call.

Bettas are pretty tough little fish and can tolerate alot of nastiness in the water, but if your guppies and yo yos are dying somethings up...

Well, my memory is a bit off, as usual (but it was a while ago). They were being kept (not sure if he still has them) by an angelfish breeder who posted on the forum I visit there. Scroll down the thread and you'll see a fat looking hillstream on the glass in one of his pics. http://www.angelfish.ne...

on the other hand, the tank is obviously kept in pristine condition. Discus can't tolerate less.

Just to muddy the waters further...I know of at least one discus keeper who keeps hillstreams in his planted discus tank and they are doing well. There is no fast flow, but lots of hiding places and plants and algae to graze. the temp is also over 80F...

I think I'd keep an eye out for suspicious looking cavities underneath some of your rocks... Agression often indicates protection of progeny. Also simple territory issues, but in this case, I'd watch. It WOULD be totally cool to see if they breed! But I bet unless the parent/s are as agressive as so...

Were all 100 in the same bag? Just because they are low mass fish and starved before transport, you can't expect to put that many fish in a bag and not get ammonia! the fatalistic attitude of lfs employees and owners about whole shipments dying is disturbing. And Tammyliz, the 'make someone do it' m...

Your water parameters look good, but it sounds like you have alot of fish in that tank. 8)

If the deaths occured after a water change, I'd suspect something went amiss that seemed to have affected only the yo yos. What that could be only you would be able to determine, I fear.

Do they keep any cold water fish? I'd bet they have a cold tank to keep feeders in that is off the tropical system... if they wanted to keep/sell hillstreams they could easily set up a smaller tank on that system with a pwerhead, couple of rocks and feed algae wafers. Or they could continue to buy t...

I agree. Just type up your little info sheet, include Martin's article link for those who may (or may not) be interested and possibly educate someone. If you do it nicely, in the spirit of sharing information out of concern for both their business rep and the sake of the fish, who'd object? So, if t...
