NancyD you have provided no evidence of the existence of parasites in imported Clown Loaches.
I have looked up the link of the study that showed no parasites in imported Clown Loaches.

Thankyou, this is all I have time for today.

Re: Poor appetite help
NancyD as it is you who are claiming something exists I believe the burden on proof falls on you or are you making an argument from ignorance?

Re: Poor appetite help
Its hard to comment on something I haven't personally experienced in my fish and therefore haven't researched fully. I haven't seen a study that identified a parasite causing this condition. I have seen a study that found no parasites in imported Clown Loaches. But something is going on as the "skin...

Re: Poor appetite help
I have never treated my fish for parasites other than the Ich/Whitespot they had shortly after purchase. This was their only ailment.
My understanding is they are routinely treated by the wholesalers before export.

Re: Poor appetite help
Hi hamfist I see we have spoken before a while ago! Well what I will say is that you appear to be keeping them well to me. What may give solace is that I can tell you they do change their behaviour over time, perhaps many times. You can make many small changes which help. I keep mine only with...

Re: Loach comes over and turns upside down?
Hi your account was very interesting thankyou. These are very special animals. I understand that they are often released here in England when people cannot cope with them. Recently a colony of Ring-necked Parakeets has established near to where I live in a park and I have been visiting them. In wint...

Re: How much to feed please?
I used this study as a starting point as it is the only one I have seen. I'm not telling you to use it if you don't find it useful just making you aware of it. http://www.allnaturalpetcare.com/Animal_Nutrition_Research/Maintenance_Energy_Requirement-5_Species_of_Ornamental_Fish.pdf This is the nitty...

Re: Powerhead for Roma 200L
I have a Fluval U4 internal filter in my 200l tank which has been operating continuously since March 2017. I have the outlet at the surface. It is capable of high flow but I have the flow turned right down as I require lower flow for Cardinal Tetras. The Aquaclear 50 needs to be attached to somethin...

Re: Powerhead for Roma 200L
After some experimenting I use only Aquaclear powerheads. Other, admittedly similarly cheap brands were noisy with vibrations and suffered from short life and sticking when switched off for tank maintenance. Aquaclear seem free of these problems. On my 6ft Clown Loach tank I use 2 x undergravel filt...

Re: How much to feed please?
I'd start at 10mg per fish per day and work from there. I would expect that value to be close to the ideal based on experiments conducted. Its easy to see if a fish is undernourished. I adjust my feeding so that I feed the minimum for an observable healthy weight. Older fish may lose condition and y...

Re: Yoyo loaches - advice needed!
Thanks for the link I've now seen the post about larger Yoyos killing smaller ones. I'm surprised at that. Glad the temperature is working out, its something often overlooked. Pictures make everything more interesting so I try to post them whenever I can. However, it is more difficult on this site s...

Re: Yoyo loaches - advice needed!
I keep Clown Loaches and it is normal practice to add even small ones to a shoal of much larger fish without aggression issues. However, I have noticed a few cases where two groups of different size may fail to associate together at least in the short term. Clown Loaches are more gentle I think, but...

Re: Clown Loaches now 29 years of age.
Thanks NancyD. When I first visited this forum the oldest Clown Loach known here was a lone one called Albert belonging to Mamaschild in San Diego and he died in a heatwave at 17 years of age. https://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10525 He is pictured on the species page https://www.loaches...
