elfuego, you might try feeding some veggies. My sids like cucumber, cooked peas (just the "guts") & sometimes slightly cooked zucchini. Low calorie treats a couple time a week. You also may want to think about a bigger tank, a few more kuhlis would be good too  I have some in a 20g long & they...

My dominant sid USED to be very chubby, I thought it could be a female with eggs (not pregnant). Now "she" lives in a bigger tank & no longer gets first "dibs" on the food & shes lost quite a bit of tummy although not skinny by any stretch. There are a couple reports of breeding but it would be extr...

I suggested daphnia since it's very small it takes many bites to fill up even small fish but so yummy they are apt to overcome their shyness in a feeding frenzy. My smaller fish sometimes take a bloodworm or other larger food & go hide so I don't see them for as long a time. One of my clowns only co...

How long have you had the loaches? It can take them a month or 2 to get used to a new tank. They are naturally nocturnal so try feeding just after you turn off the tank lights. After they get used to dinner time they'll be ready for you & you can work toward lights on feeding then earlier in the day...

I slice a small zucchini lengthwise about 1/8-1/4 inch thick, I use the middle part, they don't eat the skin. I just rinse, set on a small plate & zap for 20-30 seconds for 2 slices & cool. Raw is also popular after it sits in the tank & softens a bit They get peas when we have them for dinner so I ...

Thank you Martin. This is just what I needed earlier this week. I may have to start carrying nemachine outlines so I can color in the appropriate markings. I always seem to forget some important characteristic by the time I get home. A side note-- are "panther" loaches just a vague designation for n...

They had airstones running & I would have said something but I thought it would have fallen on deaf ears. Only 1 harried worker, lady with several small children & 2 other customers waiting plus browsers like me. I don't know if I've ever seen a powerhead on a stock tank anywhere, I don't see hillst...

Cool Graeme, glad that's normal. I think they came in only a few days ago, Mike. There were at least 20 I'd say, $16 each. I wouldn't wait if you want some, they're in a bare tank without enough water movement IMO. Between that & their fab looks they won't be there long. Hopefully they'll get them a...

Sewellia in Massachusetts!
I saw my first s. lineolata in person yesterday at Tropic Isle in Framingham. They were bigger, 1.5-2in. TL, & more active than hillies I usually see. The big 1 on the front glass seemed to hang on by his fins with his body held slightly away, is that normal for them? I wish I could get some but I'm...
