Re: Hypergastromyzon
I just saw one of the hyper eating a bloodworm!
I hope the other follows soon and that the one I haven't seen is still around.

Re: Hypergastromyzon
Could be. I need another look at them. This store does a good job with hillstreams and I thought they would small enough to avoid sale for a few days.

Re: Hypergastromyzon
@plaalye: I'm really not sure what those gastros were. I almost got them too, but thought that I would let the store keep them for a week and see how they do before I buy them. They were small and appeared to be a dark green with cream/white stripes. One had some orange red in the middle of the tail...

Hypergastromyzon
I picked up three Hypergastromyzon mixed in with a shipment of gastros. I'm not sure how they will do as I have heard they are a bit more delicate than gastros. I put them in a tank with a few small gastros so we shall see. So far they are very active and healthy looking. There were some other odd l...

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
shuwae: I got mine at Aquarium World in Lafayette, Indiana. I got them in two different batches in the last couple of months.I think most of their suppliers are in Chicago. This is the first time they or anyone else in my area has had them in a few years. I picked one up at The Aquarium in Knoxville...

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
Yeah, I put a couple of flat stones in when I set it in the tank. So far not much interest but hopefully that will change.

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
Yes. I had them spawning years ago but the population eventually crashed and I had a hard time finding more.
Unfortunately the only room I had for the new ones was in a tank with sand. But, I have put in a bowl with gravel in it and will see if that works.

Re: Why are Ambastaia sidthimunki so expensive : (
Most of the ones that I have seen here in the US are a bit cheaper than that, but still pricey.
It may be they are higher priced than most loaches because all of the fish in the hobby are captive bred. In the wild, they are rare.

Re: Gastromyzon ID - mixed bag
Try to get us more pics if you can. I have always wanted to dedicate one large tank to gastros but it always seems that I end up mixing them in with other hillstreams due to space constraints. I have had about 6 or 7 different species and would love to see them in large numbers in a large tank with ...
