I would treat as you described once, (remove carbon if you use it in your filter) and observe their behavior. If they have no problems do the second treatment. If you see no evidence of external parasites, I'd skip the 3rd. Water change between doses, and when done water change again and add carbon ...

My littlest clown is barely 2" and he is the one I usually see running around with a snail stuck to his mouth...he likes them, but the other two I haven't seen eating any. Of course, that doesn't mean they don't, just that I haven't seen it. I've seen them go after 1.5" apple snails, too. To ...

What do you mean by 'exchanged the box filters'? Did you replace them with new, or did you put the one that's mature into the new tank?

people pay good money to advertise legitimatly on this site (at top of screen - there's even a link that tells you how!), money which presumably funds the upkeep and smooth running of the site which we all use and gain benefit from.
good point, Gary. 8)

thanks for the info. When you set up this new tank, did you use filter media or substrate from your existing tank? Is your other tank fully cycled? Meaning has it gone through the process of building up any beneficial bacteria that will help process the fish waste? If not, what your fish will experi...

Hi Shane, and welcome to loaches on line. :) What temperature is your tank? Sometimes planked fins can be an indication of temps too cool for the comfort of the fish. Can you give us more info on the tank set up? Water parameters, size, other occupants, etc. Also, sometimes keeping just 2 loaches in...

If not, while we appreciate the offer and won't delete your post (in case anyone else is interested) continuing discussion here is about loaches. This i...

Very interesting Curtis. I'd always thought they extended both at the same time, kind of as a reflex action. Independent control...hmmm. What does that mean, anyway? 8)

duh!

Guess you can tell I've never done any written work in Europe, eh? Did alot in Israel, where they use a completely random selection of paper sizes! Very aggravating when trying to keep files in a consistent manner.
