I have rock hideouts and a couple of clay pots (like the kind you'd use for gardening) that I made caves out of. My kuhliis and snails especially love the pot-caves.

Once again, jealous of your new finned friends. Sure seems like England is the place to be for loaches.

Wow thank you so much for thinking of me! It's killing me, I wish I could right now. Our baby is only 2 weeks old and I'm having a heck of a time just keeping up with the 3 tanks I have set up now.. oh, you have me drooling over the 90. I wish, I wish, I wish...

I have 5 kuhliis in a sand substrate tank and see them daily. Mine also like to hang out in the plants. I see them all come out during feeding times. I also have 7 dojo loaches (2 golds) and they almost NEVER hide, also in a sand tank. Just this morning, in fact, I saw all 7 of them at once doing th...

I remember seeing a picture of a catfish (Pleco? Something else?) in a 10 gallon tank. For whatever reason the owners never thought to get a larger tank, but the fish had grown longer than the tank, and could no longer turn around, or even move properly. All it could do was wiggle. It was sort of w...

It's very true Bettas are unpredictable. I have had good luck with them. I keep a male in my tropical community tank without any issues. I do keep floating plants for him, in the part of the tank with low current. As far as gouramis go, I will only tell you my recent experience. I am no expert.. but...

There is a group of 'Algae' that is actually Diatoms. This sort of algae is most common in new set ups, glass tanks and tanks with silica based sand as a substrate. Diatoms utilize silica in their body structure. Mostly this sort of algae looks brown in an aquarium. AH HA!!!!!!! I just had a light ...

I swear, I feel like i'm holding my breath waiting for your tank to be complete. I was a nervous wreck just setting up my 55 gal in the livingroom (worrying about level tank and floor support, leaking once all the water was in it.. etc) I think I'd be out of my mind with a tank your size. Still woul...

Re: Are my loches happy

:?: I recently purchased 6 clown loaches and 3 Burmese border loaches. They are in a 125 gal tank with good water flow. They eat like pigs and their color is real bright. Sometimes they go up and down one end of the glass for an hour non stop! Is there a problem or do they like doing this? Thanks T...

The medicinal benefits of salt are not the salt itself, but the change that happens when you add it to a previously salt-free tank. Many parasites are killed by the change in osmosis that happens when salt is added to the tank. If the salt is kept in there all the time the fish and parasites get us...

I have danios (blue, leopard, zebra, and gold) and they all get along great and spawn constantly. I have white clouds and harlequin rasboras also. I would highly recommend any of these for ease of care, friendliness, and keeping the tank lively with their activities.
