Well, is that really a bad thing in itself ? I`ll probably become unpopular now since this is a loach forum  But, I mean, we humans have harvested from the sea, freshwater, forests etc for hundreds...thousands... of years. I guess since I come from a traditional fishing country (Norway) I`m just...

Thanks Mick! I`ve watched the tank closely today. It seems that the Kubs aren`t hiding as much as the other Loaches. They seem to be swimming around happily and investigating theyre new home. One of them got into quite a fight with one of the Striatas. (Nothing serious). They are beautiful fish. Mar...

Thanks Graeme!! I just released them into the tank. I turned the lights of before they went in. It`s really fascinating to see how they behave. They shoal together beautifully. (Because of the stress i imagine). I find that the theory of "safety in numbers" is proven at it`s best when fish are newly...

New kubs
I have been looking for Kubs for quite some time. The LFS has had quite a few for some time. But they have been skinny and tiny, so I have obstained from buying. I walked in today and suddenly I saw a group of Kubs that were much larger and well fed. So I purchased 5. They are about 7 cm. Im posting...

Hi! Looking at the pics I`d say youre sick clown most definetely has some form of skinny disease. My experience is that the best course of action is anti-bacterial treatment with Maracyn 1 + 2 and an antiparasite drug like Levamisole or FLubendazole. I have yet to fail treating skinny with these med...

Hi! Welcome to LOL :) I`m not an expert, but I advise you to give some more info on the tank. Was the bio-filter fully cycled and intact when you started the tank? 2 1/2 weeks sounds pretty much like the time when nitrite levels will reach a peak in an uncycled filter. Clowns are really volunerable ...

Hi Diana! Thanks for the tip :D I`m not so worried about the filter bacteria either. The 3 times I have used Maracyn in the q-tank I have had no problems. But if something should happen I have plenty of cycled filter media to add. But I will monitor the parameteres closely. I think I`ll start with L...

Instead of starting a new thread I`ll continue on this one, as my question is related to the topic. I moved the cured fish to the main tank, and they are doing fine :D I isolated the sick clown and started treatment. Some days later I saw that another clown started to develop symptoms, and a little ...

Hi Diana! It`s kind of difficult to separate the garlic from the butter in this product. Because it`s... how shall I put this?... garlicbutter...AKA: all-in-one. I don`t dare to feed my clowns snails from the garden. We have a major snail-problem in our country, and snail-poison is more common, than...

i doubt they would even think about expeling gravel through the gills, mick Ha-ha... yeah, that would be pretty stupid  I often thought that the recommendation re. sand in loach-aquariums was due to prevent damage to the barbels if they were kept on sharp gravel. Not so much that this was theyr...
