My first attempt at a video. It's not much, just 15 seconds with the lighting a bit crappy, but it gives an impression of the tank at the moment.
The kubs were in hiding (except for one) so it's just the Danio's and SAE.

It's just a theory from my observations and experience. It's when the water or anything else goes against the grain of their body. Their slime coat and scale pattern adds a layer of protection, but if the something is rubbing the wrong way against their scales it probably feels like a bug is crawli...

San-ho-zay, I've actually looked at the Profito again and decided to start adding in in low doses again. It's some Fe, Mn and K and such and should be okay for the fish. So maybe it will help the plants. I don't add EasyCarbo because I simply don't know what's in it. Robert, I have three SAE since a...

Are you feeding the plants? No. I used to give EasyCarbo (liquid CO2 replacement) and Profito (fertilizer) but I quit using that because I didn't trust those as far as their effect on the fishes health. Plus, my intention from the start was to create a tank that would only require me to use tapwate...

Thanks! I have three 38W T8 lights on for about 11 hours a day and the brown algae are on the Vallisneria leaves towards the top of the plants. I don't understand it either. I have had weeks with 50% water changes, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Andre might have a point, it does seem to...

I have a problem in my tank and I can't seem to identify what the reason might be. My fish are flashing. At first I saw only the Danios that did it, but recently I've seen the same behavior with the kubs. They don't do it often, just every once in a while, but I still have the impression the fish ar...

Dank u wel Clowntje! (means 'thanks' ) New batteries and slightly more cooperative kubs, although they recruited the Danios to provide some cover. :P http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Dutch_lol/kubotai6.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Dutch_lol/kubotai7.jpg http://i304.pho...

Thanks Mick! :D All my fish are still shy, just moving in front of the tank will cause them all to hide in the right corner under the wood. It's less than in the beginning though, but I don't know why it takes so long for them to get comfortable. The filter is great. It's my first aquarium, but I do...

Finally got around to make some more pictures. Unfortunately the water change I did just before making the pictures caused the kubs to hide. They're pretty smart because they kept hiding till the batteries ran out. :P http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn167/Dutch_lol/aquarium5_140608.jpg D. kyathit...

I'm using a reasonably cheap Canon PowerShot A460, 5 megapixel. I usually make about 50 pictures of which I might use just two or three.
Hopefully the tank will clean up a bit the coming days so I can get a few new shots. The C. siamensis are still small, but fantastic fish!

Yesterday it was finally time for the C. siamensis to be added. Now I have reached my full stock. 27 D. kyathit 7 B. kubotai 1 unknown, but most likely A. botia 3 C. siamensis After some trouble with the Danios I think I've finally got the tank running stable with happy fish. It still needs some ext...

I've been trying out my new "gravel cleaner". It's just a flexible hose and a PVC tube long enough to reach the bottom, and it works great. If I narrow the opening I can control the flow a bit and can clean for ages before filling a bucket and I will have a lot of junk. Also learned about a great wa...
